The Humbolt squid vies with the shrew, IMO, as the most vicious and voracious animal on earth. Not trying to induce paranoia, or anything , but if you want to see big squid in action, trying to eat people, watch these videos "if you dare !!!" Note that I take no responsibility for any bad hair days resulting from watching these videos.

EEEEEP! :jawdrop: Although 'doormat sized sheet of calamari' is pretty epic.

For safety concern, this diver should have swimmed down inside a cage so that he didn`t had to struggle with squids attacking him in return. What would people do next when they put their life on the line or in danger for fame and reputation on TV?

The smaller Humbolts can still make it through most shark cages! And when they do, you have a real fight on your hands!

Would those even be able to eat human-sized prey?
Cephalopods are highly intelligent and curious, maybe that attack was more playful behaviour than overpowering potential prey?
(Some species' playful behaviour can be pretty rough :p)
