the NEVER ENDING CYCLE OF PEOPLE STEALING THINGS ON INSTGRAM, and then arguing and lying when they are caught.

So this person made an entire account of stolen images, mostly with no credit, and the few she did she got wrong. IN this example, crediting this fishbutt tail as merbellas. I found it while searching the merbellas tag which led me to the entire account.

I did the usual first thing first, try to be polite, reach out and explain to them, and you get shot down with arguments and lies... They deleted some of the comments but I was able to screen shot part of the conversation

Now, when I approach people nicely and they dont listen I always reblog and tag the mermaids involved (because when you comment more often than not the OP just deletes your comment) as you can see from the comments on my screen shot the girl apologized and deleted all the stolen images. I appreciate people back tracking and doing the right thing, but it's frustrating to have to call them out publicly to get them to actually do it.

this is a NEVER ENDING battle in the mermaid world. The same old excuses are always thrown around and it drives me nuts. People usually back track when you call them out at least but everytime I browse the mermaid tags on any site it's just stolen image after stolen image and so often manipulated.


I think we need some sort of awareness campaign. I might start another thread. I think it would be cool to create some mermaid images with texts about why people shouldn't steal the photos and remove credits that everyone can share around. It might not solve the problem totally but man, it could at least be a start. I am tagged every other day by mermaids on the look out for stolen stuff! And I know there's this famous photo of Iona's tail that gets stolen constantly, and a famous photo lorelei took that gets stolen constantly.

Because he uses the same IP addresses always lol and as a registered developer on youtube I can access them (just like how average members on here can't access IP but a Mod can) . And he's used that username before. And he just outed himself and then deleted said comment in which he outed himself. After 6 years of harassment from the guy, I got all my ducks in a row.


For anyone who is interested, I actually have a full vlog/blog planned on how people can deal with trolls/collectors/merverts and track their information, get legal help (where applicable) and keep em from being able to contact you.

Honestly, I am so tired of the "real mermaids don't ____" argument. MERMAIDS ARE NOT REAL. And if they were, there are MANY ways in which they might be shaped, or move. The very fact we can actually swim with monofins and tails in the dolphin kick kinda shows me that if they were built like us, they could move too! But seriously, I am so tired of these people who are so freaking obsessed with the knees of a fictional character. This lovely lady just left me a bunch of "fuck off" comments all over my mermaid monday video. It would be one thing if it was just a video of me and she thought I was lame. Sure, fine, whatever. lol but it's a video talking about the mermaid world and news??? LOL if you think mermaids are lame, why watch mermaid videos??? her profile is real... 'interesting'. In another post she said my book is dull. lol which 1) I'm sure she didn't read 2) yes, I would imagine if you don't like mermaids, you would find a book for mermaid businesses, dull. lol

I've been watching the 2008 Dyesebel series, and enjoying it, but like I said in the comment the subtitler didn't do a great job. Apparently the fact that I didn't stop and learn an entire language just to watch this show means I'm lazy or something. Heaven forbid an English-subtitled video get viewers who speak English.

do you know how many tweens get mad I say "v-log" instead of vlog? I took videography as a kid and a teen, before youtube, before vlogs even existed. Back then they were called video-logs or v-logs. That term has pretty much existed for as long as video has. But it drives people nuts that I say that instead of vlog. LOL. hahahaha gotta love the fake "HERE LET ME USE YOUR AMERICAN BANK" emails.I used to get those. There's always some variation of the same story going around.
Theres a guy on YouTube, who does an entire series about the shenannigans that ensue once he answers these emails. He once told one scammer he would take the deal if he could get a free toaster. The stories are pretty amusing. I might have to go hunt down his channel now.

Not youtube but I hate when people tell others to skip fabric tail and go straight for silicone and even skip practicing with a tail. The amount of people who think they can put on a 30+ pound tail without a lick of practice or preparation is terrifying,this is why I'm worried eventually tails will be banned in ALL pools because sooner or later there will be a news article about a mermaid who drowned

I was |---| this close to just going to silicone and then common sense rung out and my first fabric tail is arriving on Tuesday. I even went so far as to start doing yoga and keg exercises to build up strength for when I first put it on.

I get why people want to jump right to silicone, but after watching so many videos a about them, unboxing them, and what not... Idk if I will actually want a silicone tail. I'm sorry tiny and not that strong and I beloved that a silicone tail could really hurt me if I don't train up to it.

I think a lot of it depends on how pictures are taken. I saw this one with the model wearing a Magictail and you would not say it is fabric:
