Hi :) My name is Kyo, i'm not sure i want to choose a mer-name, i think i'll just be Mermaid Kyo, or Merrow Kyo as soon as i figure out how to change my name hehehe.

I've always been so very at home in the ocean, i live in a beachside town in Scotland and i grew up swimming at the beach every chance i could get. My first memory of uhm.. my mer side? or persona, i'm not sure what to call it tbh, just feels like being me, anyway it was when i was swimming around just being me, and i felt something coil at my leg then it was gone, i looked around bobbing under water but couldn't see anything, i figured it was just a jelly fish or something (there are tons around here, mostly harmless) Then it happened again, and again. I was starting to get concerned something was scoping me out as dinner! haha, Then right next to me a little otter popped up :D It kept swimming around me and then plopped back under.

I was mesmorized with it, i took the scrunchy from my hair and tied it around my feet and copied the way it swam through the water. It seemed to be playing with me, i'm not sure if it was but it felt that way. I swam with it for as long as it let me, then it disappeared and i swam back to shore.

Since then i've swam with countless fish, dolphins, sharks and i am obsessed with sharks!

I was always obsessed with the story of the little mermaid and the stories of the Merrow folk my granny told me. I only just discovered the online community of mers and knew immediately i wanted to be part of it.

I am currently working on my first tail. It won't be ready for a while as i'm stitching every scale. Once i save i hope to get a tail from merbellas, but i feel like it's important for me to hand craft my first tail. It's a labour of love haha :)

Well that's my story and i hope to meet lots of new friends here :D

welcome, welcome!
Good to have a Merrow. Asrai are swell too, but it's so inconvenient to dissolve into water in sunlight :p

So you can swim on scottish beaches? How warm is the water there?

I am currently working on my first tail. It won't be ready for a while as i'm stitching every scale.

does that mean you're making a fabric tail, and instead of painting scales on it, you stitch them?
I considered doing just that on my fabric tails (because painted scales are not very visible when wet),
but it sounded like a lot of work.

Haha, the water is verrrrry cold most of the time, but i think i'm kinda used to it cause i've lived here my whole life and always swam here. There's a portion of the summer if we're lucky when the water is nice and warm if you stay pretty shallow. In the summer i like roadtripping up north and swimming in the loch's, they're so clear and swimming against the current really helps build strength.

And yes i'm making a fabric tail finally to go over my monofin. It is loooooots of work as i decided to stitch each scale singly and boy is it infuriating at times, i've thrown it to the ground twice and my fingers are like pin cushions at this point. i've been working on it about a month now and only managed 11 rows of scales (plus the basic silhouette and fluke cover) But, when it's finished(sometime in 2099 haha) i figure it will be worth it.

And yet I cannot help but think of my undersea D&D game, where merrow (aquatic ogres) and scrag (sea trolls) dally with shellycoats (seafaring greenhags) to beget sea hags and shoal hags. Never mind all the half-merrow scrag and half-scrag merrow out there. Yeah, I have too much fun for people. ;)

Hahahahaha Love that. Male Merrow's are beasts probably well describes as undersea ogres! However female Merrow's are very beautiful creatures and this is why a lot of the time they choose to love sailors or young fishermen instead of their underwater counterparts. I love that there is mentions of the Merrow people in things like D&D because i grew up in Scotland with Irish granparents and i think every kid should be able to hear the tales of the Merrow folk like my granny used to tell me.
