I searched on the forum looking to see if someone has said this and I didn't see anything, so I thought I'd just let people know in case they are interested: Hot Topic's current obsession is apparently The Little Mermaid and they have tons of clothes/bags/toys/jewelry/wallets, etc with TLM stuff. They also have some REALLY cool metal starfish wrist cuffs and some sea themed jewelry that doesn't relate to TLM. That store kind of goes through seasons (carrying whatever's popular) so I thought I'd mention it in case anybody wanted to take advantage of the sudden interest in TLM and Disney Princesses in general.

That's it, time to go to Hot Topic.

I'm not as interested in TLM stuff, but I am interested in the other mermaid items. Nice find!

yeah loads of stuff and so expensive to ship here lol even though we have HT in a few provinces in Canada, they still ship it from the states. It costs more for my shipping than the actual order. I have two shirts, the I'm really a mermaid shirt, and the My parents so I could be anything when I grew up so I became a mermaid shirt- which my dad loves, and two keep calm and be a mermaid bracelets. it was like 100$ lol. My friend Mermaid Stephanie sent me Ariel leggings <3

Yup! Ordering from HT is hell! A few weeks ago I got a -15$ coupon from a friend who whent to the states. I got crasy and ordered 3 Ariel shirts. The shipping to Belguim was 44 (!!) dollars so I had a total of 100 dollars (included the coupon).
when the package came I had to pay 25 Euro for tax (its like 18 dollors ) and that just for 3 shirts!

Not to mention my dad had to call the custumer support line becouse the order was on hold for me using his credit card for once.

It took 25 mins before he had someone on the phone... 0_o

Hot topic charges insane shipping anywhere but in the states, and I have no idea why. Honestly NO other store I order from charges shipping that insane. With how often they send packages too, you know that they get package discounts they aren't passing along.

Perhaps US mers can partner up with out of country mers, buy an order in the states and mail it as a gift? There would have to be some logistic wrangling, but I'm sure arrangements could be made with paypal accounts or things like Amazon gift cards?

Aww, man I've been going to HT since I was a wee thing. It's always been my go-to for Disney stuff, specifically TLM. By the way you can save on shipping costs by half if you ship to a nearby store and pick it up yourself. It takes a little longer, but it might be worth the savings if there's a store in your area. But yeah since they re-released TLM on dvd/blue ray HT and Disney store have been releasing a bunch of cool promotional stuff. I have 2 pairs of Ariel leggings, too many shirts and hoodies to count. Snagged the open back tank before it sold out. Also check out Disney store for some awesome little mermaid art. Seriously, some of the prints they have are just gorgeous. Also, if anyone's still interested and didn't get a chance to get something from the Ariel collection at Sephora the first time around it's back online, plus Cinderella and Jasmine. No storylook palettes, but it has everything else from both collections, minus the compacts for Cinderella and Jasmine: http://www.sephora.com/disney-ariel-collection I so want the Cinderella and Jasmine quads.

I was just looking at the link an they do have Sebastian socks. But I think that is not what you were looking for. I think it would be cool if they had more stuff on the little mermaid. Like King Triton an more of Flounder an as such.

I actually contacted HT Canada about it and asked why they can't ship from stores and pointed out that the flat rate for shipping was outrageous. They said the stores aren't set up to ship. Lame.

Hmm, I don't know how Canada's setup works but I'd bet that's a lie. Think about it, they need to send stock to the store from the warehouse anyway. When you ship to the store it just gets put in the next stock shipment, which means you're at the mercy of the shipment schedule, but it shouldn't be an issue just selecting an item that would be shipped from the major warehouse if you ordered it online; Canada or not. Either way it comes from the same place. In theory, they shouldn't have a problem just making sure your stuff gets sent out with their next stock shipment. I'd call them directly, not the individual store. Though in the U.S. You can even order stuff online from the store via web register if they don't have it physically there with the option to ship to a home address or a store.

it's true, Hot Topic just never set their stores up to ship. They keep all that going from their warehouses. When I worked for them, there was only one, it was when they first opened 20 years ago. But I imagine how many shops they have now, and I don't know how they work their warehouses. It's a huge undertaking and all organized to save them money, not the customer. They have shipping rates for sending merchandise from warehouses to stores. They have a separate department working on sending out orders, totally different employees, and rates, and even if they theoretically go out on the same trucks, it's not usually the same people doing it.

If someone really wants something and doesn't want the outrageous rates, see if you have someone who can send it to you. I know that involves trusting people with your money, but if you know someone you can trust, you can have what you want and decent shipping.

I ordered a ton of Ariel stuff from them about two months ago- and I'm from Australia, so it was a HUGEEEE effort. hahaha!! For one, the postage was really expensive (which I'd expected, but still, for clothes?) and it took about a week for them to even process my order as I had to ring them to confirm it was me on the credit card (which again- I had to stay up to 11pm to ring them at their 6am! haha! And on my mobile phone. My phone bill was unhappy with me.) But the people in customer service were really nice, so I give them thumbs up for being so happy at 6am. haha!
I got my stuff and I love it, though :3 I would consider buying from them again, but this time I'd get some friends to order with me to split the shipping!

Hot Topic is a big company that is publicly traded on the stock exchange. If you want to motivate them to change a policy, like outrageous shipping costs, complain to the corporate officers. Post to blogs, en masse, bringing attention to the ridiculous costs. Squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Went to Hot Topic today! Everything in the store was buy one get one 50% off, so I just couldn't pass up the opportunity! I wish my HT had more mermaid/ocean themed stuff, our kind of stinks. Either way, I am soooo stinkin in love with the mermaid scale scarf. I've been kind of depressed lately with the cold KY weather, so hopefully this'll cheer me up.
