OK, so I'm always a day late and a dollar short-- so you guys may have already discussed these new designs, BUT....

I just discovered them for myself and wanted to post in case others like me (new) may also discover them.
I found two really interesting new monofin designs on the market.
VERY expensive, but very interesting.
One of them, the LUNOCET, I am over-the-moon for. It's a great design that truly mimics the movements of the dolphin fluke. It has two pivot points and a specific design to give more "lift" with hydrodynamics than your average fin. It provides torque and both up and down stroke give great propulsion due to the pivots. Check it out!

I love the movement of the fluke and according to the website, you can reach between 8 and 10 miles per hour. Supposedly people are using these to perfect "breeching." Who can say. Downsides: I heard on one youtube vid that the guy was complaining of buoyancy creating a difficulty for him with deeper free-diving. I dunno.

The other fin I'm not as crazy about. It has a stranger look and seems sort of inflexible and awkward. But I think it probably does a good job with propulsion. It was designed by aerospace and is called the hydrofoil fin: DOL-fin. here's a link to it.

They've just released their newest model called Orca, which is pricey but is the best looking out of them all. Still not my favorite, but I'd love to give both LUNOCET and DOL-fin a go and see how they feel.

I'm hoping that I can use some of these ideas and advances in technology for my own future designs.
What are your-all's thoughts?

Yeah, I've been wanting a Dol-fin Orca for over a year now, but they only make, like, 2 a year and each is "auctioned" off on their facebook page. I could almost afford the predicted price of 1200, but they bumped the price too much after it was released, and with the "auctions" on their facebook page, it at least doubles that... I'm thinking I may just need to design and build my own LOL

did you change your mer-name, moonflower? :)
Yeah, I think that I may have to just come up with my own plans and designs and see what comes of it

Oh lord, the Lunocet.... do want so much! All the videos so far of people using them switch from clip to clip so fast I can't get a good feel for how fast they can go :/ I want to see one long clip of someone trying to reach max speed.
