Hello there. My name's Matt, and I'm a college student in Massachusetts. I've loved mermaids my whole life, but I never had any idea there was such a huge community. Growing up with a love for mermaids wasn't easy, I got made fun of a lot for it (the mermaid boy is what all the bullies in school would call me), so the fact that there's this kind of a forum is really exciting to me. I don't have a tail or anything, but I am an animator and have used several mermaid characters before. I actually just launched a new web-show today about a mermaid called "Sirenetta."

Not sure if you are a seafood fan or not, but if you are in Boston, you should go down to the Fish Pier and try the Noname Restaurant!

Yay for more mermen! Welcome, Matt. Bullies are especially rough on merfans, particularly men, and I feel your pain. What is sirenetta about?

Ooh, I'm allergic to most seafood, but I can usually find some kind of fish to eat. I'll check Noname out next time I'm there.

And thanks, Joy&Raptors. I'm glad to be past the time of bullies, but of course that will always stick with me. Sirenetta's about a girl who's given a necklace that turns her into a Mermaid when she's submerged in sea water, and has to use the powers that come along with it to stop the sea creatures coming after her. Here's the first episode:

Ouch! Doesn't seem right for a merman to be allergic to seafood! lol The Noname is on the Fish Pier, so most of their seafood is literally right off the fishing boat! I haven't been there for years, but I used to LOVE their fried fish sandwich! I belong to the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and we would have a Sunday morning class in at the Coast Guard base, so Sunday brunch after class was often at the Noname!

I hear you about bullying! I have always been a bit on the outside, so I had some problems with it as a kid. My favorite answer was my roller skating coach, who got picked on because he didn't want to play football, he wanted to skate. As he said, though... 'Why do I want to get hit by a bunch of guys when I can be holding a pretty, scantily clad girl?!' Seems like it is the same for wanting to be a merman! Look at the lovely mermaids you get to hang out with! :D

Eh, it's alright. I figure it just means I can be friends with a lobster and he'll never have to worry about me eating him. I'm always up for fried fish though, I'll go check it out sometime!
