So I was showing this to one of my friends and it's apparently illegal to swim in that spring in NZ because of local natives in the area. Poopy.

I'd kill just to be able to swim in semi-clear water! All those photos and videos of you guys at Rainbow River makes me soooooo jealous. In Ky, the closest thing we have is the Ohio River, and I'm pretty sure mutant fish live in there and your leg will rot off if you jump in it. No kidding.

The spring has a temperature just shy of freezing point all year round, so it wouldn't be advisable swimming there even if it were allowed.

Oh, I don't know about that...Cumberland lake was pretty nice, and there are tons of beautiful and clear creeks to splash around in.

The Ohio River is pretty murky and fairly dangerous around Louisville, it's a major shipping route.

Right now, almost all of the "nice" lakes have been labeled as dangerous because high levels of harmful algae blooms have been detected in the water... They advise against getting it in the eyes, swimming in it for longer periods of time, etc.

Yeah, the Ohio river is pretty dangerous, but it is so gross. I REALLY think mutant fish live in there.

It stinks, because I am within walking distance to a lake, but it has been labeled as one of the worst for water quality (dangerous). I think because there is a golf course right next to it and all of those treatments run right into the lake.

WOW!!! Some of the pictures there are boats on the water but it seems that they are just floating on air, the water is that clear. I would love at least once just to get the chance to swim in something that clear. All I have by me is the Mohawk River an the water is so nasty that if you fish you are basicly allowed to only eat 2 or 3 fish a year out of it, an it is always a murky brown. Just nasty.

Just gorgeous. I think our visibility in Louisiana water is like...3 feet. Ha ha! I need to add some of these to my travel list :)

Unf, this place is beautiful! Perfect waters for a fresh-water mermaid. Now I just need tickets to Brazil...

I'm in the same boat as a lot of you, lol! Around here we have the Salt River, Gila River (both are pretty murky and not so great to swim in for too long) and our major lakes like Saguaro and Roosevelt that have crap for visibility. Pretty sure there's bodies that haven't been recovered in there :|

I went to tahiti once and it was probably the best time of my life. It was absolutely beautiful.
