So excited for the last movie!
But also a little sad. :(

Also, I'm disappointed that the country I am currently in opted to -not- do a midnight release. And I had my costume and everything ready. :\
Might turn out fine though, am trying to get into another country (which is like, 20 minutes away) that does have a midnight release to make it. :|

If we have any fans out there, post photos of you in costumes, or whatever! :)

HP is awesome. Where are you, though?

Lol I'm in Asia for a few weeks visiting friends. Every country nearby except for this one is doing the midnight release so I was thinking of just crossing the border for a day or something. Movie comes out tomorrow here though!

LOVED the books, but the movies were such a disappointment. I've come to realize that you just can't compare books to movies- you will always be disappointed. However it's hard to do that with the movies because the plots feels SO forced and rushed that unless your remember the book it just seems way to fast on it's own. That and the movies skip over so much it seems to leave plot holes. I actually stopped watching the movies after the 4th one. Unless someone woke up and realized that "Mr Harry Potter" needed acting lessons desperately then I don't think they'd be worth my time. The acting by him was incredibly forced and very awkward- he was merely playing Harry Potter, not being Harry Potter, and to me it made it so obvious I would cringe at his poorly delivered emotionally unattached lines. He's like an "acting" robot the way "acts". The 3rd film I thought this showed more than the others. By the 4th I was done. How they could allow someone like that play the most important roll in the movies is beyond me.

Hope I didn't make anyone too mad, but that is my honest opinion.

I love Harry Potter. Got my tickets and plan on standing in line all night tomorrow haha. I agree that the books were better than the movies but I still did like the movies. It was always interesting to me how they make "the magic" in them. I am rereading the 7th one right now and its simply crazy how many details were left out. I feel like if the movies matched the books more closely, even if they were 4 hours long each, I'd watch them.

@Winged Mermaid: Haha that is completely fine if you don't enjoy the movies. I know that a lot of people don't.

I was disappointed with the movies after the third one. It was my favorite book, and I really didn't like how they approached the movie - it looked like they just chose scenes from the book and acted it out. I really liked the first two though. Now I just sort of treat the films like they're their own thing. And I mean, as a prop/costume enthusiast, watching this recent documentary on Industrial Light & Magic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmPEYssU5vQ) made me develop a different kind of appreciation of movie adaptations. They're never going to be spot on, but they can put a completely new perspective of the story, like in the most recent Star Trek movie, or Watchmen, where they changed the ending (and I think actually made it better).

Here is something you might enjoy though, I thought it was well done :P :

Ahhh just saw the movie!!! It was totally great. They did a pretty good job with it. My friend was like, looking at me in horror, as I mouthed some of the words from heart, but it was still pretty epic. :P
And I went in costume. Haven't decided if I will post a picture or not though.

Yay, A Harry Potter thread! Gah, I am the biggest HP nerd ever :D In elementary school, my friends and I would make our own wands and carry them in our boots to classes, then cast 'spells' on each other in hallways. Sirius Black would always be my favorite character, and I'm pretty sure my house is Gryffindor, though I've done many quizzes and always get mixed results *shrug*
