Hello everyone! I'm so excited to be here. It is lovely to see so many mermaid/mermen enthusiasts!

Introductory post can be so awkward so lets get to the meat shall we?

It has been a life long dream of mine to 'become' a mermaid. I was first introduced to mermaids through the movie 'Splash' and 'The Little Mermaid.' I remember in one of the houses I grew up in we had a claw foot tub where I would frequently try to swim around in while pretending I was a mermaid. I probably looked more like a fish out of water than a mermaid with all the flopping around I did. My obsession did not stay confined to the tub either, it extended to pool time as well. I was so hard up about mermaids I never really learned how to properly swim other than a dolphin kick. I'm currently in the process of trying to change this. Hopefully it will help my learning curve when I do get a tail yes? Haha this is wishful thinking I'm sure.

I grew up around a lot of fantasy elements such as dragons, fairies, unicorns, wizards... well not actual wizards, unicorns, or fairies. :p Lets just I had a pretty extensive unicorn collection and leave it at that. Naturally I took these interest into adult hood where I remained fascinated by all things based in fantasy or cryptozoology. Outside of romanticizing magical creatures or elements I enjoy retro gaming, Japanese street fashion, dancing, animals, vegetarian cuisine, learning about natural housing materials (such as cob), crafting, and anything that keeps me busy.

While I have planned to make a tail for a few years due to health and financial issues it just wasn't in the stars. 2014 my years though so watch out!

It is great to be here. I look forward to reading and interacting with you all. Hopefully I can become a contributor to this great community in the near future.

Welcome, Ranoria! Great to have you here. You'll certainly find all the resources you need in here for when you do start making your tail. Love your hair, by the way! Do you have any more photos of it? I'm kind of a sucker for coloured hair, haha :P

My hair changes fairly often. It is probably not the best of ideas to bleach and dye it as much as I do, but I do it anyways. Here is a better pic of it where you can actually see the blue underneath.

As for everyone else, thanks! I lurked for a few days before joining and found loads of info. I'm sure with more digging I'll be well on my way to glorious tail making!
