Lone South African mermaid

Hi fellow mers!
Sorry for only introducing myself now, i should have done this earlier. I have recently joined the forum and have been participating in a couple of threads since, I hail From South Africa, and as the title suggests, I believe I may be the only one here, I have looked for others but to no avail.

I am 21 year old Mermaid , who does Freelance writing , i have constructed a business plan to start mermaiding professionally and would love to make plenty of mer friends on here! I currently own a tail made by myself as seen in the pic below. It is made of a fin designed from tooling leather and a frame , and skinned in lycra. It has a snug fit and looks great in and out of the water. It is also my first attempt, and i am saving for a merbellas or finfolk tail in the future, but with a different design and color scheme.

I have great interest in the ocean and nautical history and mythology, especially that which involves piracy, as well as the diverse mythos prevalent among landlubbing cultures.

Wow!! Hi there Chimera! I don't know if we have anyone here that's from South Africa just yet. But what an exotic place! I want to visit there one day. How do you like living there?

I love it! It's an amazing place and the people are awesome, was born here and most of my family except one brother and a cousin lives in thailand and New Zealand, so i'm happy to be surrounded by loved ones. But it does get a bit lonely Mer-wise though, I'm sure there must be others, but they probably don't share it with anyone so there is no way of knowing. On top of that, the weather is almost always temperate, i'ts summer here in the Southern Hemisphere so we get plenty of rain and thunderstorms which is nice, and the food here is always good :D thats a big one since me loves food! :3 just to dispel a common myth, no there aren't any wild lions roaming the streets lol, cities like johannesburg, near where I live resemble places like dubai or manhattan , but yeah the government is pretty messed up and mismanaged. Just a teeny bit of info :D

Thanks you much! hehe i made it myself, was a bit of a hassle figuring it out...I'm still doing improvements and extending the fluke and stuff, adding more scales. And such :D

Wow that's amazing you made it yourself I am not that good with that sort of thing I am doing my research at the moment but nothing might not happen for a while haha but that's okay I am too just own a tail that makes me happy enough :)

I think it is an amazing feeling to even own a tail in my opinion. I feel so lucky to own tails <3 and be able to do this new passion I have found :D

Aaaw thats really cool :) give him a proudly South African hello for me :) I'm really hoping to bring mermaiding to other South Africans, It seems to be pretty unknown here :/ I'm hoping that if there are any other SA Mers on this forum that they will notice this thread and then maybe get in touch with me. Would be awesome to start a pod if possible

Hey! Nice to meet you! Which part of ZA? I visited Cape Town in 2009 and it was amazing and a lot of fun. My favorite pair of earrings are from there. Also you're lucky - there's probably a ton of mermaiding opportunities there!
