So, I finally found a place that ships in smooth-on silicone to south-Africa, but here are my problems:

1.) I am fully capable of making the tail myself but since I'm only 15 (going on 16 march!) I'm unsure with silicone to use since I am still growing, I was thinking 'eco-flex' since it expands may times its own size, ( maybe make it a BIT bigger to grow in to?) or any othe suggestions?

2.) I'm still deciding which monofin to order but what size? Currently I'm a 10.5 ( I know, bit of a shock thinking that I'm only 15... I'm freakishly tall) So should I get a 11.5 or 13 to grow into?

3.) And lastly! I'm planning on making a extended tail but I don't want to use a rod or similar (to stiff and has a possibility to shatter) what if I use dragonskin 30 for the core/base of the extension and veins of the fluke and the ecoflex or dragon skin 20 for the tail (possibly dragon skin 10 for floppy fins? I really wanna go all out!).

Im fairly new when it comes to silicone, so is all this what I ask of you guys even possible or logic?! :thinks:

Thank you

So I went and watched kanti's silicone tutorial on YouTube for mermaid tail making. I got my silicones all wrong, after watching the video I came to a conclusion of making the tail itself out of Dragonskin 10 and the fins out of Dragonskin fx pro. I'll be using bits of Dragonskin 20 and 30 for spines it the tail's fins. And it just occurred to me that if I make the base of the extended tail out of silicone the tail will become to heavy -_-...
That about narrows my options down to a rod or what do you guys think can be used to make the extension of the tail strong enough to propel but floppy enough to be easy to work with?

If you want to fill the end of the tail with a silicone to make it natural feeling, you can still do that. You'll just want to use one of the MUCH stiffer versions. They sell some silicones on Smooth-On that are almost the consistency of tires, which would be more like what you're wanting. Just make sure you get platinum cure, because tin cure silicone will inhibit the curing of the other parts of your tail.
