Monterey Bay Container Study

I came across this after learning about the amount of containers that fall off ships each year. I never heard of a study being done around one of these and it seemed pretty interesting and kinda eye opening.

Cool. This made me remember the "friendly floatees" studies of the ocean that were enabled when a container from Hong Kong dumped 28,000 rubber duckies into the ocean. Scientists have been following their progress for years as they float across the waters getting an understanding of how ocean currents flow.

They seem to have become quite the collectible for beachcombers too.
