Hello from the Netherlands

Time to introduce myself. I'm Marijke Pie (mermaid name: Mermaid Crystal), a 25 year old living in the Netherlands. I'm a photographer and fantasy artist at heart and one of my hobbies is costumes. I love going to fairs here in the Netherlands (like the Elf Fantasy Fair and Castlefest, the two biggest fantasy events of Europe) and in the beginning of 2012 I discovered you could actually get a tail and be a mermaid! So I saved up a lot of money and got a tail from Merberry (long horrible story, and now the tail is falling apart =( )
I since then did more and more research about mermaid and the community and loving it more everyday! I bought a separate mono fin (a finis foil) to train my swimming techniques. I always loved swimming but never realized how much I loved swimming like a mermaid!
So my dream is to become one of the few professional mermaids based in the Netherlands. In january I'll start with scuba diving lessons, and after that I hope I can get free diving lessons.

I also visit the Elf Fantasy Fair and this year I went to Castlefest for the first time, on my b-day :D

Castlefest is really my fav event. ^_^ Been visiting since 2007 or 2008 (Can't remember) And EFF since 2006. =)
Nice way to celebrate your birthday, on Castlefest! Do you stay on the camping or do you visit just one day?

This year I stayed just one day, as it was our first time there. But maybe next year we stay a few days

I currently have no tail to swim in, but I'd also love to swim with other mermaids... but that will take a while since I first need to save up a lot.

Hello :) I am from the Netherlands too!! Its great that you joined us!! Its such a pity that im not actually a mer, because i am kinda tail-less :( My mom thinks this whole mermaid obsession is just a joke. I dont think so. But still, welcome!

I'm kinda tail-less too. =( Saving up for a Finfolk tail. =) I don't care what others think, it's my passion and dream, and I'm trying to make my dreams come true. =)

Welcome! Your pictures are gorgeous! I'm so sorry about all the problems with your tail. You would never guess from the pictures that it was so poorly made ......you look amazing in it :) I hope you are able to save up for a better tail soon!

I have a spandex and a neoprene tail extra, I don't have extra monofins though. It would be really fun to meet eachother one day :)

A feeling I know all too well. Then, it's get the big camera. Well, might as well get the tripod, too. And that reflector... and it needs a keylight...but it's too hot, so I need a diffuser... :gah:

Then I say screw it and grab the phone.

hahahaha I know right? Then because of RAW you actually have to process the photo's and all... blergh.. way to much work for some simple snapshots XD
