I have been working on a walkable mermaid tail which I started a couple weeks ago. I took a bellydance costume that was not selling and decided to turn it into something new :) I cut off the bottom and used that to cover the new mermaid top. I added tulle to the bottom of the skirt and removed all the crystals and rhinestones to use for another costume project. I added some beads and pearls to the skirt. I added seaweed and beads the cups with various colored pearls and beads. Added the lining, and netting for the straps and drape and added a couple more pearls and a pendent and it is all done just in time for NCMerfest!! I am so excited. This is the quickest top I have made, took only 3 days even with all the hand beading.

Here is the original costume. I still have the bellydance bra that came with the costume. I took it apart and will make something else with it.

that is beautiful....and i love what the original bellydance costume looks like lol but that is just the dancer in me

I have had that costume for quite a while. Lycra skirts do not work well for me, they either are too lose and slip or too tight and give me a muffin top. LOL. I never wore this one as all my others are much prettier so I tried to sell it. Noone else wanted it either ;)
