I just realized that I have yet to introduce myself! My apologies. I am Mermaid Ayesha. My friends call me Ayesha, Yeshers, or Smalls. I am 21 years young and for now I live between South Carolina and O'ahu.
My childhood is filled with beautiful memories with my sister. Our place was the ocean, and when we were unable to be there it was the pool. We would spend hours swimming together pretending to be underwater ballerinas and mermaids. In 2001, she was diagnosed with AML leukemia and she lost her battle September 30, 2003. It took me years to finally come to terms with everything. It was then that I realized I should cherish each and every day that I am given on this Earth, and I made the decision to live not just for myself, but for the both of us. I made my first tail in 2012 in memory of my little sister with the colors orange and gold to not only spread the joy of her life, but to promote leukemia and childhood cancer awareness.
This has been a great place to meet other mers in my area, and I look forward to meeting even more wonderful mers in the future! :)
