View Full Version : New year resolutions
So new year and all I have decided to enter Tough Mudder in the south west, I got 8 months to get fit for it but I think I can do it. I got support from those closest to me, who would be there when I'm at the start and at the finish.
Daunting, very much so but I feel like I can do it. And I want to do it.
Who else has resolutions they've got?

Made one that spans from Gregorian New Years to Persian New Years.
New Underwear.
I mean, of course, because I do historical reenacting, modeling, and so on I want all new undergarments for that. I could give a crap less about my modern undies. :) I'm hoping to get seven corsets/stays/bodys, a few types of hoops, and a load of petticoats, chemises, and drawers done. All photograph-worthy (the ones I have now are a mix of "pretty enough to model in" and "good lord, what happened to it?" :p )
The old underwear looks amazing, especially Victorian. What do you do re-enactment wise?
At re-enactment events I always found it funny when the men had modern underwear underneath their hose, and if the shirt was lifted I saw a label for something or bright boxers.
I got more then just Tough Mudder, actually move on from my ex. Do more larps and try out fire dancing. Also get back into roller derby.

I am going to be better at compartmentalizing work so I am not under so much stress. That is my number one resolution, followed by enjoying the process of doing things rather than being so stressed out by the end concept that I can't enjoy the journey.
I am an intense perfectionist who is rarely happy in the "now" because I am always looking at where I need to be. Hopefully this year I will get the hang of living mindfully in the moment instead of worrying about tomorrow.
Last year, my resolution was to do things instead of thinking about it and making up excuses on why. Many times I've started something and then gave up. I've been setting myself to 'do it' and it's been working.
But good luck in it, it's hard changing lifetime habits and traits.

The earliest I do (so far) is a 550 BCE. The latest "real" impression I do is 1960s. I do most everything in between whenever the opportunity arises. There's a few eras I tend to skip over, even when presented with the opportunity - like I hate Caliphate-era impressions, and I've never been fond of Selucid impressions either... But I think that's more of a "I hate that point in history for people like me" than anything. (Although I don't mind Timurid impressions, so go figure.... Lol)

I've made the resolution to have my silicone tail done in time for swimming in this summer. Still working on the clay scale sheet, which gets really tedious, but I'm gonna finish this thing! Also, I'm gonna try to keep my house cleaner this year. I'm terrible about keeping up with housework :$

I hate new year's resolutions. I never make them because A. I never remember them anyways and B. What were we talking about? ;) So this is what I try to do every year: Learn and grow. Hopefully in the right direction.

I've finally been able to buy some shoes and stuff to go running, so I'm going to start running with the club every week or twice a week.
It's not really a new years resolution, it just happens that I've only been able to do so now, but anyway I'm really excited to start! :)

I intend on getting my tail and swimming hole done before the end of spring, at least the swimming hole. So I can actually practice, and cool off in the summer.
Get a job, that's simple enough.
Start with a fitness routine and stick to it, along with volunteering at the library more.

Well, i have quite a bunch of goals for this year :
- to find my path whether it's as a hairdresser, a gym trainer or a merman. I have got to figure this out.
- to get 7 lbs of muscle until summer.
- to work on my dolphin kick and breathing underwater.
- to try to like myself a little more as i lose confidence sometimes.
- to get my silicone tail from Finfolk Productions.
- to be independent.
I would be content to succeed with these already...

I like to think of it as goals rather than resolutions. Ild like to get back into swimming. I haven't for a while and I miss it. Plus I'm going to try to balance family with my own happiness. I took a job I thought I'd like but it's making me miserable

My main ones would have to be
- Save the rest for my first silicone tail (not far off)
- Loose the fat around my tum tum a bit more lol
- Be more crafty
That's it so far

I always have quite a few resolutions, haha! I dont know if I ever get them all done each year, but I enjoy the challenge ;)
~ Get fitter (want lady-abs, haha!)
~ Work hard on my business
~ Make one (or two) more silicone tails
~ Do my top 3 cosplays (which means sewing more! I want to get better!)
~ Save money
Lets hope this year is a good one for all of us! :D
