I decided to open a new thread because I successfully made the two first molds >,<"
i have to say that it´s already the third try with a silicone tail and if that try today didn´t work I would have cancle that project >,<" (but it worked yay :D )
the first try I used plaster for the mold and false silicone (which stank so much x_x) ... They said it was paintable but it wasn´t that much ><

i let the fluke in my car for one day... and it still stinks that much >< (now for 4 months ôo)

so the second try was to make a mold with shell shock but unfortunately the release agent didn´t work or we just used not enough of shell shock ><) the mold broke :(

now the third try c: again with shell shock but with vaseline for releasing :))
and tadaaaa it worked =D i just tried the small fins and a little starfish :) and I´m sooo happy Q____Q ♥ i already lost all hope ><

I nearly finished my scale sheet but I´m not sure how to prevent the shell shock sticking to the foam ;o;

You need to use a REALLY good release agent with foam and shell shock! I used shell shock/foam and my mold was a mess and it took hours and hours to clean it! Vaseline would probably work well if you covered the foam completely. You should do a small test with whatever release agent you use before you pour a large scale sheet.

Your fluke is beautiful and I really love the fins! The starfish will be very cute on the side of the tail! :)

Yeah i'm really afraid because of shell shock and foam >< did you all use also shell shock for the scales?
I'm considering if there isn't a way to prevend the foam from sinking the shell shock into it ō.ō perhaps i should make the foam really really wet or paint a varnish on it? ><

I recomend to ask kaupo if you may can use Uretahne Rubber for the Mold.
And maybe spray shellack or kind of Spray wax could help prevent sticking together - it even makes smoother corners - like on your scales.

Hello again it´s been a long tim since I posted ><"
I started to go to at a private fashion school which isn´t free so I had to pause my project. I´ve got 2 jobs during my school time and now we are in summer holidays so I can work a lot and continue with my mermaid tail c:

My fluke and fin mold were finished successfully and yesterday I filled the dragon skin in my small fin molds >u< in the middle I put some fabric because I need them for a school project :3 I also will try to sew it in my Magictail :D
