Hello all,

its been a while since I have made a top (since oh well may I do believe when I went to Blue Springs with Nerine)

and I have a reason to make one now.

My photographer friend is doing a "Breast Cancer awareness" book and she asked me if I would make an appearance in it as mermaid adella. I told her I would but I would not be topless as I am a public figure. she laughed and said that she didn't even want that. She just wanted me to show up in my pink tail and show that all sorts of "people" support getting annual checks.

So I am making a sequin scale top and I have exactly one week. I am reusing an old top that I had pulled all the shells and foliage off of in May.

As you can see there is a lot of residue from glue and other things on it. I have to pull it all off, paint it gold (close to my skin tone) and then add all the sequins. I am unsure yet if i will be gluing them or sewing. prepare for photo dump.

I removed as much as the old glue as I could. And then I painted the white bra gold.

I couldn't remove all the glue as you can see in the picture. But that is ok since its getting covered anyways. But time to put the bra in the dryer to let the paint cure and adhere to the fabric. And then I will work on the scales.

I can tell you from experience that sewing them will take a long time, and is unwieldy at best, and if it's just for one dry gig, a dot of E6000 on the top of each sequin will hold them nicely! Don't try to glue them completely flat over the compound curves of bra cups.

I covered my mailbox with half inch sequin scales eight years ago, and have only lost two! (And this is a freestanding mailbox out in the elements, not a mailbox on the front of the house!)

I used e6000 on my 1st tail and the scales are still holding up. So I think I am just going to glue them since this is a dry event only for now

Lol good. I took a break to work on something else and work is getting in the way. I am hoping that work flies by today and so do my chores so I can finish this top and the other item I am working on. Once I get a break I will post some more pictures :)

Those are iridescent sequins..at the time I thought they would be amazing...overtime I do wish that I would have gotten some that were solid color. It bothers me that in certain lights, the only color that you see is a yellowish green. But that is just me lol
