Can I ask a question? I wanted to come up with ideas for designs of merman armbands. I've been going over sketches in my head and on paper but I cant get an idea. I looked on other threads and found a octopus armband but I want some of your ideas. I want the armband's theme to be creatures of the deep, like all kinds of sea animals. crabs, seahorses, eels, exc. be creative :)

I'll see what I can sketch up in the near future. You mermen are really inspiring me! :D I've been meaning to make some armband designs, since I've convinced my mer-wrangler to get in a tail eventually :P

I love them all omg that's exactly what I've been looking for. I love the crab and the stingray would be amazing. but lets not stop at armbands how about sea creature inspired belts too, not just for mermen but mermaids too. an electric eel belt would be amazing.

And Miyu thank you because what inspires me to make all these cool things are mermaids every where, im an artist and every artist needs inspiration and you and all mermaids are my inspiration

Hmm... Ok... I have a thought, since you posted that stingray picture...

Please excuse me if I just build on you mermen's ideas for a bit, I am not a dude, and my own dude leans towards feminine, so I don't always know what all the other mermen want in terms of accessories :P

I was at Tandy leather a while ago, and they had stingray leather in ALL SORTS of colours (all I can find online is black: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/site-search-results.aspx?sectionpath=3&processor=content&p_keyword=stingray). These hides were small, expensive, but BEAUTIFUL. It was some of the nicest hides I've ever seen, with this interesting pebbly texture :)

I also have been looking at making LED clothing and accessories for ages now... the only reason I haven't experimented yet is because of funds >.<

Now, I wouldn't say to make LED things that will get wet, but for a dry event, I think something made of the above stingray leather and LEDS would be fantastic on a mer-man!

For water use, first of all I would try to make a synthetic stingray skin, haha, since that leather is no good with water. There are all sorts of strong (bright), long-lasting glow pigments you can get these days... either paint it on, or embed it in the silicone/whatever you're making the stingray out of).

Wow I'll definitely keep updated with this board. I would love to see some Merman cuffs like this! I have a necklace that works, but would like another. However that necklace is the the only accessory I have. I would love 2 wrist, ring/hand, and belt accessories eventually.

I just ordered some glow-in-the-dark thread for embroidering and such... It's polyester, so I think it would do fine for mer-wear...

You know the toy that have Monkeys in a Barrel and you could link them together, front paw to tail to create a long chain?

Maybe you can try that with seahorses.

Lol that sounds awesome!!!! I was trying to put a seahorse on my fluke sculpture before I poor the plaster so when I put the latex in a seahorse in infused with my fluke a signature tail mark for my line of tails

GUYS!!!!!! I get to demold the test arm band tonight!!!

Made from latex I had left over from Twi'lek Lekku. The length of it is barely 25cm BUT I made a seaweed part to lengthen it so it can fit the circumference of many peoples arms :).

It's all one colour presently because well I wanted to try the molds but it can be made any colour.

I'll post pictures when I can.

But for a little reference, would anyone be interested in these?

Great idea. I know raven made these about 5 years ago out of latex but I think she made one batch and sold em and that was it. I was always sad more mers didn't try them out because I think there is a much bigger market for them Now. I'm really excited to see how it turns out!!

Thank you ^_^.

I never knew that Raven did, but with all she has on her plate now, well, who could blame her for stopping. Hopefully if this one turns out well and people like them I'll create a few more designs, like the ones in the pictures above (I swear I can sculpt better than I can draw lol)

Ohh and the latex is red, not the pink it looks in the pictures :).

Well after pulling one out I have already changed my method along with new equipment to make it easier. BUT PRESENTING PULL NUMBER ONE!!!!

22916
Please excuse the crudeness of it and I plan to have the eyes and suckers to be a different colour but that would be done in the mold.

Trial number 2 is in the mold drying and is going to be purple :D

Oh and this is what the leafy bit looks like. Hopefully the purple one will have more contrast to the greenery so you can see how it looks behind the tentacles.

Second one is done and definitely much better than the first especially with the top coat, and after making the kelp a different colour it can definitely be seen through the tentacles ^_^. Though colours are a little mottled in the head region due to me not mixing the latex properly and currently the last layer of gloss is drying (hence the white bits but you get the picture) >_<.

Hopefully this doesn't break the rules due to this being the third post of mine in a row (over time of course). Can be found in the classifieds, my facebook pages, or message through here ^_^

"We are now happy to say we are offering Octopus Armbands for sale!!!

The top picture is one which hasn't been put together so you can see the whole octopus. He is gold and purple, but the purple has a golden shine throughout (which is why is looks shinier than the plain purple in the bottom pictures).

They are water proof (tried and tested), and can be made in many colours. Basic version includes 2 colours, one colour being the suction cups on the legs and eyes, the second being the rest of the body. The kelp holding it together is either bright or dark green.

Made to your specific arm measurements, but it will be a little tight to be able to stay on your arm while moving (or swimming).

$35 AUD + p/h, to anywhere in the world.

Made from latex, so those with an allergy please be aware. Amount of orders with these is going to be restricted, but no means stopped, due to the curing time and only currently having one mold.

Feel free to message me, if you have any questions or for a postage quote, on here or on my facebook pages: Mermaid Ilyena (https://www.facebook.com/mermaid.ilyena/timeline?ref=hl) OR Hippocampus Creations (https://www.facebook.com/Hippocampuscreations)"
