Underwater Treasure Chest

I want to make or buy a treasure chest that can go in the water. Everything has a metal hinge on it which would probably not do too well in the water! Anyone have any ideas on how I could take one in the water with me?

Replace the hinge with plastic? You can buy plastic hinges online.

thanks for the ideas! I'll look into both of those. I'll probably be covering the box with shells so color probably won't matter much. :)
