This is probably going to be a long post so please forgive me and if you do happen to read it all, thank you in advance! :)

I've been on this site for a long while, but haven't been on much to post as there was a lot of personal stresses going on in my life. Recently, I lost one of the most important people to me, my Nanny (she's my blood grandma, but she hated that name and said it was too old for her, so she'd been called Nanny since my older sister was born). She might as well had been my second mom, we spent more time together growing up than even me and my own parents sometimes as she was the one that would go to L.A. with me for my auditions and other acting roles.
She was one of the few people that was really supportive of my weird dreams and called me her "Little Mermaid" or "Little Lorelei". When she passed, a piece of me died as well and I fell into a lot of depression, which didn't mix well with my anxiety and it's taken a lot of counseling and good friends and family to get me back on my feet.
It's been hard, but one of the biggest things my nanny wanted me to do was to follow my dream of being a mermaid. Before she passed, she was helping me save money to get my first silicone tail. Now that she's gone I want to finish that goal more than anything and I hope to have a silicone tail by this year (I'm saving so hard for it) and I would love to attend more events. I've been into mermaids since I was a toddler and got my first tail at the age of 11 (which tore apart after I swam two miles in it @-@), my second tail a friend made for me and the third one was a magictail tail.
My mermaiding has brought me closer to quite a few amazing people. Mermaid July and I are currently working on writing a mermaid book and we hope to turn it into a film in the far future. You'll see the both of us swimming at Merfest 2015. :)
I'm hoping to be on here and posting a lot more and would love to make some new friends (although I can be very awkward and antisocial >< so I apologize ahead of time).
Apart from mermaiding, I love archery, anime (and cosplaying), my wonderful pets (3 rats and one cat), and acting. I'm almost 21 and was born and raised in Northern California, but have moved to Moscow, Idaho for school, so I travel back and forth often. I also have my mertender, who is my boyfriend of nearly 4 years, who you will probably see by my side often when I attend merfolk events.

I look forward to meeting and getting to know everyone better this time around. :) Sorry this was such a long post. ><

Welcome back! I'm glad you're back on your feet.

What is your mermaid book about? Is it published anywhere? It would be awesome to have another mermaid movie in the future.

Lol, don't worry about being antisocial and awkward, I am as well, and have been doing alright here. Everyone is very sweet and friendly. :)

What colors were your tails? And who are you planning on ordering your silicone tail from? I also just started saving for one this past summer, but only have $250.00 saved right now (I can only use birthday/christmas money for it). Lol, I'm sure it's going to take forever, but someday I'll have a Merbella's tail! :)

Best wishes!

Hello Danielle (I LOVE that name :D Reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Ever After),

the book/movie is going to be about how the first mermaid came to be and how things grew from there. It’ll mainly show how pollution is getting worse and causing mermaids to become sick, the mermaids grow angry for revenge for the humans causing pollution, but there’s going to be a few twists thrown in (the mermaids will be a bit darker than the happy stereotype). There’s so much more to it, I wish I could say about it, but it would take ages, plus I don’t want to spoil it ;)
We haven’t published it yet because we haven’t even started writing it, but we are brainstorming and should be starting on writing soon (so exciting!). :)

Thank you about being accepting of the antisocialness, it’s good to know I’m not alone in that aspect. :)

My tails in the past have always been different shades of blue (my favorite color). I’m hoping to order my tail from Mernation or Merbella/Raven. I’m aiming for Raven (although I LOVE every silicone tail I seem to see), the angler fluke is my style. I have about $600 saved and my boyfriend is helping me greatly to save. I hope you get your tail someday and we could swim together as Merbella’s :D It’d be awesome! So nice to meet you! <3

Welcome back Varasai! My heart goes out to you. I know how heart breaking it is to loose someone so close. My Granny passed away back when I was in Jr. Highschool (middle school) and she was my everything. Whenever I wasn't at home, I was at Granny's.

If you're ever in or heading through Poky shoot me a message!

HI, Varasai.
I wanted to let you know, that the way I see it, the truest mermaids are born from storms and tribulations.
I know so many, who have always loved mermaids, but it took something heavy and heartbreaking to finally lead them to their dreams.
I feel for your loss, and welcome you whole-heartedly into this warm, loving, and occasionally crazy and dramatic, but ever supportive, community of Merfolk.
Please know that you have a friend in me.

I'm Dottie, I love Miyazaki films, Merida is my favorite Disney princess ever (closely followed by Belle), I want to cosplay much more, and I have 2 cats, a dog, a husband, and a squirt (mer-baby-boy) as far as pets go. ;)
Pleased to meet you!

Thank Q so much, I can definitely say I know the feeling. I'm sorry for your Granny's passing as well :( It's never easy to lose someone so close. I went to school the next day and I couldn't comprehend how people were still smiling and laughing, I had to go home after just one class. It's a missing piece of the puzzle that makes you who you are, you can't get over something like that.
It's really nice to meet you, if I'm ever headed in that direction I'll be sure to let you know! :)

You don't know how much that means to me, I can't begin to thank you enough. <3
Very nice to meet you Dottie :) I also love Miyazaki films as well (Spirited Away has to be one of my favorites)! I actually LOVE most, if not all Disney princesses, I've cosplayed Merida and attempted to do Rapunzel, but sadly failed :/ I also would love to try and do Elsa someday :)
Haha I love how you put husband under pets XD and you're squirt/guppy already sounds adorable! :)
I hope to talk to you a lot more in the future! Thank Q for introducing yourself to me.

So sorry to hear about your Nanny, I had a Nanny too whom I had lived with at one point. It's very hard to lose them and I feel your pain <3
