So, after long thought, I think I've come to a decision.
I'm selling my tail.
After months of thinking about it, I realized that I am probably never going to swim in my tail again. I love mermaiding and I still adore the Network, but being a physical "mermaid" has long lost it's interest with me. I think about my tail every now and then... Sitting in my closet... Wrapped up... Collecting dust. And I realize that someone out there could really use a tail. My tail is not in bad shape. I received it from Stevi back in the "glory days" of Fish Butts, actually it was Mermaid Parties when I ordered it! The tail was made in the summer of 2012 and was shipped to me in early September 2012. I've only swam in my tail several times. Once at Alexander Springs and the only other times were in a pool.
My tail is made of latex and neoprene. It really has no flaws to it. I have glued fringe to the end of it and the fringe sits on top of the latex, however it is hardly noticeable because the fringe is clear. The fringe was glued down with E6000 and that baby hasn't budged at all for me! The Latex doesn't really look like it's deteriorating to me, but it is latex. Latex does eventually give out. I do notice there's a bit of a darker "stain" on the butt end of my tail. In person, it's not very noticeable. It's not mold, I've tried cleaning it several times and it just doesn't budge. There's also a little bit of the darkness on the feet end of the monofin. I THINK this might be the latex giving in a little bit. Again this is BARELY noticeable. I only really saw it because I scrutinized it.
The monofin is different. It's a custom lexan monofin that was made for me. It is a little too small for my height but I never had any issue getting around with it. However, the footpockets are WATERSHOES. They are secured to the lexan sheet. These watershoes are made for a size 10 foot. However, you could get away with being a bit bigger (I actually am a 10 1/2) And if your feet are smaller, socks are always an option. Personally, I think these watershoes are amazing. Your feet won't EVER slip out of them and they are amazingly comfortable. Honestly if they weren't attached to my monofin I'd wear them around the house. It does take a little practice to get into them though, but patience is a virtue when putting on tails in general.
So, the only real flaws to this tail are: A little discolor on the butt and foot part of the fluke, the fringe is glued to the top of the tail, the monofin isn't professional (However it is completely functional. It's just not a finis), and at the fluke end, theres a TINY bit of color that broke off or rubbed off? It's just a small whiteish spot (Picture below).

These are the EXACT measurements I gave Stevi when I ordered my tail...

I understand that this is a Fish Butt's tail. But I like to say I was definitely in the last batch of good tails from that business. I feel like had I ordered my tail two weeks later, it would have ended up as a problem tail or I wouldn't have gotten my tail at all. This is a classic "glory days" tail from Fish Butts. The business was once a very good one so I assure you that this is one of her quality tails. I just get sad when I think about how many mers want a tail out there and then there's mine just sitting around getting usage. I think it's time I pass the torch on and give it to a mer who will give it the love it deserves.
I'm thinking about asking $130 for the tail. However, talk to me about prices and we'll see. I've never sold anything in my life on the internet so I don't know how to go about the payment method just yet. (I'll study up the research or if anyone wants to give me tips here, I'd love that!) But if you have any questions, comments, or want to see anything else. Just ask me! :)
