Mermaid related nightmares

We all here have had pleasant dreams about breathing underwater and being a marine creature, but how many of us have had mermaid nightmares?

I had the most unsettling dream last night. I was ready to go somewhere with my tail (don't remember where) and my aunt was driving me. However, she had to stop for something in a nearby street before taking me there, and when I went to get into her car, she said, "no, we don't have time now to pack your tail in the trunk. Just leave it there, and when I am in the (place she was going) you can come with the car and get it". I freaked out, because I knew the tail could not be there when I came back, but nonetheless I did what she said (?????). After no more than 5 minutes I came back for the tail - I had totally forgotten how to properly drive a car and I was going at 10 mph - the tail OBVIOUSLY was not there anymore and I woke up in panic and almost crying.

oh!!!! I've been waiting for someone to start a thread like this!!! ok ok where do I begin.... ummm

it was like two weeks ago when I had it I had Merman on the brain all day and in the middle of the night I was swimming out to the great barrier reef and all I could see was the moon above. I swam to the surface and I met someone, it was a mermaid, and I know this doesn't sound scary yet but it will. she was my girlfriend when I lived in FL she was the mermaid and we swam together for like hours and it as really fun until the fishing boat came, then it got scary. they had spires and high voltage spotlights on us. she said we should split up and meet back at the cove with the others but he had a speed boat and chased her into a fishing net I was managed to chase down their boat before they got to land and used some of my merman magic to get her fee but when we had left the boat hey threw a spire and it hit her, she died in my arms and disappeared into the sea. after I destroyed the fishing boat with a water spout through my rage I woke up....

I had a dream once where my mom got me my first monofin and I was swimming with Orcas. The whales weren't a problem....the fin was. It was pretty scary trying not to get hit by the whales swimming around and trying not to drown.

It was a pretty strange monofin...I should draw it sometime. It had the booties that you put on, and then there was this bar attached to the booties, which attached to the blade behind my feet on a hinge. Very weird, and almost definitely not swimmable. :x

I was a cave mermaid. one of my friends who i had not seen in a while was in the cave visiting with my husband and their friends. 5 people in total.
(backstory before i tell my dream, we were all highschool friends and i have a lingering crush on him since highschool that the husband knows about but is ok with it as long as i dont leave him... recently he stopped coming out with us and basically threw our friendship out the window... i was deeply hurt..)
anyway, this dream i was a mermaid and they came to visit. i sang and pulled him under for a kiss, but instead of the kiss i strangled him to death, but then he tried to strangle me.. so i snapped his neck..

actually, that sounds a lot like the Lunocet ;)

And most of my dreams, underwater or elsewhere, are very pleasant.

My nightmares include usually a giant shark (great white or Megalodon) coming up from directly beneath me with jaws open, so I can't do squat.
I also have nightmares about orcas doing the same thing, and I used to have tons of horrible nightmares about giant squids.

I have never had any encounter in the sea, less one that involved sharks. Did you meet any somewhere?

The only bad dream (not even a nightmare) I remember involving a mass of water was of me swimming underwater in a pool and suddenly a giant block of concrete falls over me. I think it was my husband trying to roll over me while sleeping, LOL!

I'm not sure I've had any night-mers (hurr) but I've had a few dreams that have left me a little creeped out, usually of sinking deeper and deeper into the water till I'm in the domain of all the large, dark things that people tend to imagine living in the deepest trenches. Haven't been eaten yet, though! :thumbs-up:
Usually it's just pleasant dreams of swimming (and breathing) in pools and tanks and lakes.

I couldn't drive home from the beach because my tail would not come off. So I sat an watched sunrises and sunsets forever. (Why didn't I go back in the water? Dumb dreams.)

Well, I need to vent about my nightmares: these nights I'm dreaming of being teased. Why?
...because I don't have a realistic tail.
So, things like "You are not a real mermaid", "You're too poor to afford a tail from a good tailmaker", or "F**k you I've a silicone tail and you not!" are haunting me these nights.
I'm in the making of a silicone tail, so I don't really need to complain, but I'm not so excited like other mers, because I don't know when I could finish this project.
Mind us, I'm not saying that someone needs a realistic tail to be a "real" mermaid, but when I see people who get their realistic tails, I can see the happiness in their eyes. And this hurts me so much...

Claudia, don't let something like that get you down! Yes, silicone tails are exciting, but they're by no means the industry standard. There're plenty of mers who perform professionally in fabric tails. Remember than Hannah Mermaid doesn't use silicone for her tails, and she's probably the only mermaid that people outside the mer community recognise ;)

Mine was a terrible one it bothered me so bad I finally had the money to buy my dream tail and suddenly my money was gone!
Noooo! I worked so hard for that money I was literally in tears because I finally had the time to go mermaiding and my dream boyfriend had bought himself a tail to surprise me.

It sucked because I couldn't swim in the ocean with him, and I had tell him to swim without me and he did into the sunset.

I remember posting one of my mermaid nightmares somewhere before, but I had a new one a few weeks ago. The basics of this one was that I had been cursed to turn into a mermaid, not a pretty or nice one but an evil scary looking thing. Part of the curse was that once I transformed I would kill and eat my famiy. I was standing in the shallows of the ocean under the moon talking to a man about getting rid of the curse, when one of those scary mermaids started swimming around encircling me smiling at me with black eyes and huge shark teeth waiting for me to transform. Normally these dreams wouldnt bother me but ive become more sesative since i had my daughter and i was terrified of hurting her in my dream.
