Mermaid Caspiana

I like tail threads, I look for them, so I hope you guys will like mine. It will be better than my fabric tail one, haha. But let's get to this!
So, to be honest, it's not going to get super interesting for a little while for a few reasons:
- I still have to get the funds (going to use Kickstarter, I'll link it when I do)
- I then have to get supplies and crap.
- I also still have to pick a design. (More info below)
But as of now, we plan to get this going and hopefully get it done for summer. I plan to use it for an event business, birthdays, fundraisers, etc you all know. But also, for a job at an aquarium, either Akron Zoo, Cleveland Zoo, or my personal excitement, The Greater Cleveland Aquarium, made from an old Powerhouse and just opened in 2012. Also, we want to contact our hotel when we go on vacation and see what they would do, like hire me a couple hours of each day we are there and i can play with kids and stuff. Because last tear, even with my fabric tail, these kids swarmed me and the balconies filled up. I'm still curious as to how many pictures of me are out there and what they look like. Haha! And of course photo shoots and a series my friends and I plan to do (not the normal H2O theme, but darker and more realistic as far as mermaids go I love the story and backstory so far and can't wait.) But anyway, back to the tail process itself.
I have a top five design "pile". I am remodeling them a little and haven't finished, but when I do I will post them here and in my album. But they are:
- Lionfish
- Clownfish
- Yellow, blue, black Gobi
- Sea Monster
- Blue, orange goldfish
I like them all, but we have to decide which will be easy but beautiful at the same time. Keep in mind this is my second tail, and first silicone, my first tail is swim fabric and sequins. I will post these ASAP.
Now for some questions:
- Can you guys link some of the best/detailed threads on making a silicone tail?
- Are pectoral fins hard? And how do you attach them? Same with side and dorsal fins.
- How many of you would donate and or spread the word of my Kickstarter once I have it up, just curious?
- Does any airbrush work for silicone infused pigments? Aka painting the tail.
- How much should my goal be for Kickstarter?
- I wanna make an octo-top like Raven's, but how necessarily would I go about making that mold and fitting it to a bra?
- Best monofin?
- (IMPORTANT TOO) Should I go full silicone or should I use neoprene? And if neoprene, how does that process work?
- And of course any other things you can add will be greatly appreciated! :)
Excited to be able to do this myself and see one of my drawings become real and alive and then e able to bring smiles to people's faces and camera flashes to go off. ;)
Well, talk to you all soon!
With wishes, kisses and bubbles, Love, Caspiana! ~~~M~~~ (that's a tail flipping out of water by the way ;] )
