Hi all, not sure this is the right place to put it, but I couldn't a category which would fit better.
I'm saving up for a lovely tail from Finfolk after having a lot of issues with my previous Merberry tail (lots of drama). In order to get the money I'm selling almost everything I love (that's how much I want this tail! ) I also started a crowd funding project on indiegogo because a lot of people said they would totally donate and such... yeah.. I'm very grateful for the ones who did (I really am, starting this crowd funding was really awkward because I have never in my life accepted money from others. I always saved up myself and worked very hard for it) but since a lot of people said they would contribute I thought ' what the hell, I'll just give it a try'.
Since then 9 out of 33 people kept their promise. Most are people I hardly know. (yeah, not even my family... -_- )
Does this happen often? I mean, I didn't expect I could sit back and just get money, but it's more about people saying they believe in your dream and promise things, but end up not giving shit. Am I being selfish now? I've already saved up half the amount of money myself *proud* but it kind of bothers me that it proves I can't trust people's promises.
(this goes a long way.. I've tried to set up my own company in photography for over 5 years, and in that time a lot of people promise things (commissions) and end up breaking them)
So I hope I'm making sense.. It's not about the money, but people breaking promises.. it's just crushing me every time. I thought I learned not to get my hopes up, but somehow every time I still do.. :(
