Sorry for not being around much. I've been terribly busy and recently had a very traumatic event happen that I'm recovering from but anyways I wanted to share with you my next mermaid creation.
My next creation will be an Egyptian Mermaid!
As I always do, I like to give my original mermaid creations names instead of just 'The Steampunk Mermaid' AKA Sirena Von Twisted (http://sinicallytwsted.livejournal.com/tag/costume%20-%20steampunk%20mermaid) or 'The Sugar Skull Mermaid' AKA Gothika De Los Mer'Tos (http://sinicallytwsted.livejournal.com/tag/costume%20-%20sugar%20skull%20mermaid). I don't know why I prefer to give names to them but I do. So anyways I did a bit of research to see what would jump out at me and I found 2 names that I really liked.
Amunet (Amaunet) - a feminine form of Amon, meaning "hidden"
Kemat - An Egyptian sacerdotal title, generally applied to women, and rendered "chantress", a singer or chorister of a god.
So I think I shall name my Egyptian Mermaid...Amunet Kemat! The Hidden Singer!
What do you guys think?
I'll post sketches of what I have in mind for it as soon as I can. I'm thinking of doing a lot of bead work for a collar piece and a belt piece. The tail I'm thinking of ivory holographic-ish sequins and the fins be a sand color but make it look like carved stone with heiroglyphs. Not quite sure how I want to do the fins as I want it to actually look like carvings, so I'm thinking of maybe using a foam sheet to indent areas and paint them. Did that make sense? I'm trying to describe it as best as I can.
Anyways yeah, that's one of the pieces I'm working on. I am also working on another hoop skirt creation for the NEBP group I'm in but that one is a bit tricky and we're still working on the design of it.
I'll post updates as soon as I can for everyone.
