Hey fellow merfriends! So I decided I was going to make my own silicone mermaid tail. I've been on MerNetwork for a while now, just looking at everyone else’s threads. Since everyone’s silicone tails turned out really well, so I thought I would give it a try.
I am just doing a basic scale sheet with foam circles. I didn’t want to punch out all the circles by hand so I just went the lazy way and bought packages of foam balls. I am assembling my tail in sections like Jessica. The round ones on the top are for the body, but I had a bunch of footballs so I made another small sheet with them that might be nice for making tops.
Then I started sculpting my fluke. I wanted something elegant and flowy. I am using Sculptex Clay. I like it and it works for me, plus it's cheaper than Monster Makers. I just use a blowdryer to warm the clay and make it easy to sculp.
