Ok so I just finished my first Fabric Tail. I followed advice from Sasha at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtwnOQg_KH8

First followed the advice in the video and it turned out well. I overestimated the extra room to leave at the top so I'm going to try to fix that sometime.

Now that I know how to do it though I can use the special fabric i saved for a more shimmery tail. Hopefully it looks ok.

One thing I did change from the video was with the monofin at the bottom. I did in fact use a monofin, but instead of just sewing all along the bottom I just left a gap in the center bottom. The gap is about 11 inches, so I can stretch the fabric over the monofin without worrying about it coming out. That way the curving edges of the monofin still hug the end of the flipper, keeping it on, but the active wear still stretches over the monofin. That way I can put on the monofin and then pull the fabric over the bottom without it looking funny. I just left some fringes at the bottom that will flap in the water.

Though now that I have it done I have no clue just where I'll go to first test it out. I will be nervous due to people, not swimming ability. I have been swimming with a monofin for quite some time now.

Don't go swimming after school ends, weekends. Go when everyone is at work, school etc. Or find a secluded beach or someone you know that has a pool.
