Urgh. Everything I type keeps deleting. I hope it works this time.
Okie dokie. I posted on the Oceanika thread but I'm going to post here.

Anyways, I just got my merfin today. Yay! I am really happy, but one little problem. When I ordered my fin my feet were between a medium and large. Since my feet are still growing I decided to get the large. The foot pockets are quite a bit to large. Lengthwise they are about an inch to big, but there is a ton of space width and up and down. My feet wiggle all over with this extra space. However, when trying to get the fin on or off it is tight, and a little bit difficult to do. I can't exchange the fin for a smaller size.

So what can I do to make the foot pockets smaller? Neoprene booties are an option, but I don't really want to spend to much more money, nor do I really like the look of them. Could I possibly shrink the rubber somehow, maybe by freezing or heating it? Or could I maybe use really strong glue and glue neoprene or some other material on the inside of foot pockets? Or something else? I would really appreciate any help.

I just have to say that wow the fin is big! I knew it would be, but woah. And it is just so pretty!

Thanks

I don't think you can shrink them. I read somewhere that someone bought several pairs of neoprene socks and wore them all, as she had growing feet.

Or you could dish out the cash and buy neoprene boots, like the kind divers use. They aren't really that expensive, around $25 - to very expensive designer made ones.

I was wondering if you've seen these?

They don't have that typical neoprene sock look - much more discreet IMO. And they're only about $15.

I wouldn't suggest trying to freeze or heat up the rubber to shrink it... it likely won't shrink, and you could permanently damage the fin. I think your best bet is with neoprene socks because it won't damage the fin, and everyone does complain about blisters with the merfin, which the neoprene socks should help with. You could probably even buy a pair of these (http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/3972.htm?color=9325#color=9325)and add them to either the heel-less sock's toe, or the inside of the merfin for some extra fill-in so your feet don't slip around as much.

I like how those socks look. I guess I will just have to get some. It might be difficult to find some in my size and thick enough to keep my feet from wiggling.

I totally forgot about the blisters!

Yeah, I like the look of those socks, too. A lot more svelte-like than some of the others on the market (they look way better than my 2.5mm grey Sportis, for sure. lol!).

My competitor monofin is WAY big on me. I wear 2 pairs of 2mm neoprene socks and it fits perfect! On is a pair with the open heel like the link above,t he pair I wear under that is a normal ankle sock doesn't have the open heel). I'm sure you can make it work :) Good luck!

Azira, I know you're in colorado. I have the size medium and it's a bit small on me, I'd be willing to trade, I just sewed mine into my tail skin, but it would be easy to pop out. I did do a little dremel modification to mine to try and make it more comfy but it doesn't affect the swim of it. *shrug* Or just wear socks. Once you get a tail skin made it wont matter
