So, this summer I'd like to start my business doing parties or anything with children, in a fabric tail. Obviously, fabric is no realistic, so what can I say to them?
I'd like to hear your experiences :)

I don't really know. I went to a pool in my fabric tail and the kids were really excited but I don't even think they noticed it was fabric. :)

Same with my fabric tails. As the most of them are in crushed velvet, they feel like the skin of a seal/dolphin ;)

Older kids seem to notice, but younger kids don't really. If they see the sewing marks, just tell them that you had a run in with some sharp barnacles and had to get stitches.

I was kind of wondering about this too. What about if the tail has an open fluke for the monofin?

A couple of pieces of velcro can fix the open fluke problem.

You're in Italy. My guess is mermaiding is completely unheard of there?
Then it doesn't matter whether your tail is fabric or a woven grass mat.
Many European children most likely have never seen something like it.
You won't need a super realistic tail to make them happy :)

Ikr! I was at the beach in my gold/orange tail and some little girls were shyly waving to me and dragging their parents over and I then realized my monofin was sticking out of my tail. they didn't notice it at all. :)

eh, most people don't even know what a monofin is, much less what it looks like ;)
and that's adults.
when I'm standing in a queue at a pool and carry one of my big monofins, from what some people ask me about it, they clearly think it's some sort of pool equipment like a noodle or a wakeboard :p
so yep, I wouldn't worry about it when the rim of the monofin is visible.

No, mermaiding is pratically inexistent here :(
Anyway,as you said, I hope kids will be happy just because they see something new.

Well, I've bought a shiny silver fabric that remembers me of dolphins' skin, lol

Pretty! Love the fabric, not too garish in color.

I've come up with my story, and you're welcome to use it if you want lol! If a kid asks why you don't have scales, tell them that you're still a young mermaid and that mer people have very long lives, so your scales haven't grown in yet!(:

I thought of one the other day if I were asked that question, I would reply, "I don't get my real tail till I pass the Mermaid Test."
Hopefully, they'll be happy with that answer otherwise I'll have to think of something else real quick!

Children have very wild fantasy. And they do not care if you look like a fish or are just wearing a fabric tail. For them at this moment you ARE real.

after all, the important thing is that they have fun :)
