The competitor or really any fiberglass monofin will be the fastest, however they are not by any means easy to swim in. It really depends on your experience.

Check out the stickies at the top of the monofin board for alternatives to the competitor. Most of your questions have probably already been answered--mernetwork's been around a while and keeps good track of all the threads. :)

The monofin thread has some good advice on shopping, but this is a good question. Is one of them the FASTEST? I would guess its either the lunocet or the one by smith aerospace. These are the only ones I know of which use... I'm not sure. They are hydrofoils I think, instead of just a thin material for pushing water.

Has anyone put this to a head-to-head test?

Does anybody remember the Lunocet monofin? They claimed to have made the most advanced monofin ever, thoughI don't know if the claims were verified.

Anyway this thread just reminded me about it, and evidently the design of the monofin has evolved a lot since the last time I looked at it. The price has gone down a lot too, from around $1000 to just $350. And the design looks like it might even be able to be integrated into a tail. Does anyone know anything about it? Considering how much more affordable it is I'm surprised I haven't seen more news about it.

An older version:

A more recent version, which looks a bit like the dol-fin monofin.

i'd be interested to see someone make a tail out of the lunocet, but I don't know much about it. D:

This monofin always reminds me of people that are trying to make an extended tail, like in H2o :) This one looks perfect for it!

Ill let me make from somebody a tail with a lunocet when i have enough money.
