Possible Fabric Tail?????

Ok ok ok I know I'm still working on my latex tail but I can't do anything until I get my latex and I only have 35$ right now and I need to save up, so I was looking around and I might be considering to make a fabric tail. It just sounds easier to do I think I can make my own mono fin for it and thanks to a Merfriend she has opened my eyes to the beauty of fabric tails. So if someone could can some of my Mers help me with things like what kind of fabric that is cheep but good for a tail, what paint I need, and ideas for spine, side fins, and ankle fins. I have some ideas but I don't know. ThankQ all

Hi! I've made 2 fabric tails so far, and they're pretty fun. You can paint them, and they look pretty cool if u do. Fabric shouldn't be that expensive if you look for sales, and you should buy something marked either swimsuit fabric or performance fabric. Lumiere paint works really well, but is somewhat expensive. Normal fabric paint works fine though. You could use the finis foil in the fabric tail, and just take it out to use in the latex one. Fabric tails are really nice because there are Soooooooo many different ways to make them unique!

I love my fabric tail! Definitely go with Lumiere paint. It's what Mizuko recommended to me after my disaster with the tulip fabric paint, and it has worked really well!

ThankQ to both of you I really want to make a fabric one because I could just take the monofin out and wash it. How can I make it that way do I add a zipper or what cause I don't want it to balloon up when I swim. And I know I'm not the best when it comes to continuous painting patterns for the scales, could I make it a fabric-sequin tail and if I do go that route where do I buy them?????

I used velcro sewn into the bottom edges of the fluke, not completely covering the edge, just like 9-11 small pieces. But some have written they have had trouble with velcro not being velcro-y (not sticking together) during/after swimming.
No Idea on the sequin part sorry

I also have velcro at the bottom of mine because I like to take my fin out for snorkeling. I sewed the two end pieces and left a large gap in the middle that is velcroed. It sometimes comes undone, but not usually.
