Hey guys! So I know in the March OR Meetup thread I was planning on making a meetup for the end of March. However my health took a bad turn unexpectedly, so I didn't want to schedule anything until I at least started showing some improvement.
I feel like it's too late now to schedule a meetup for the end of March, but what do you guys think about mid-late April?
The meetup would be in Silverdale WA (across the Sound from Seattle) and we'd be renting a huge pool for $50 an hour. I was thinking 2 hours of swim time, and we would split the cost between us (which means people going would need to RSVP).
So when are people free? What weekends/days would be good for you? :)

I will be actually in Seattle the weekend of April 17-20th for Sakura-Con, but the only free time I'll probably have away from the convention would be on Sunday after it ends (around 2 or 3), then there's a 5 hour drive back home I'd have to take into account, but I might be able to make it, if it is that weekend. :)

I could also do the sunday after Sakuracon, or any weekend after that. I'm busy the first two weekends of the month.

Gosh, I would love to attend this. I've been having a rough week, haven't been swimming in quite a while, and really feel like I need some mermaid therapy. But my work schedule sucks and I work on weekends and evenings/nights. I don't really expect anyone else to be able to accommodate my schedule :-/

I'm a dumb dumb and forgot to mention that I can’t do the 11-13th or the 18-20th. I’d need my husband’s assistance with getting everyone to the pool, because the pool is on the military base- and he’s on duty those weekends.

Um, Iona? Those dates aren't weekends.
I've got weekend classes until 6 the 5th-6th, and the 11th-12th. I can only do the last two weekends of the month unless it was an evening thing.

Shoot, I hope we can make it the 20th because that would be perfect on my end. :(

Okay, well I emailed an alternate pool that would free up those weekends if it works out. Turns out they had better pricing too! *crosses fins* Just means someone would possibly have to carpool the host XP It's in Bainbridge Island too so it's another half hour away. I'll let you guys know.

I would LOVE to come! Please keep me updated! I do ask that it is not on April 14th, that is my son's 1st birthday.

Finally heard back from the pool! The cheaper prices is only for having a "party" during open swim- so we'd be with everyone else that happened to attend open swim, we wouldn't get the pool to ourselves, and it would be $65 for two hours of swimming and one hour in a party room. So that's kind of pointless IMO since we wouldn't even get the pool to ourselves.. We could just go to open swim. But they also might not allow that many adults in tails at just open swim either. I could email back and ask. Otherwise it's $80 an hour, and the other pool (with limited dates due to it being on base) is $50 an hour.

I would say maybe try to ask :/ Worse they could say is 'no' or give you a price out of everyone's budget. Or, wait... is the $80 the price to reserve the whole pool? (sorry, trying to sort everything out in my head)

No, $80 just means they'll let a party of 12 swim for two hours during "open swim" then have 1 hour in a "party room"- when anyone can swim for $6 for the open swim, so we won't have the pool to ourselves, we'll be sharing with everyone else. To book the pool for ourselves is $180 an hour. Other pools in Bremerton are $65 an hour. I just liked the base pool cause it was 5 minutes from my apartment, cheap- cheapest in the area- huge, allows up to 30 people, and we'd have it to ourselves. But it restricts it to the dates I posted above cause hubby needs to be here to help people get on base, and he'll be on duty half the month.
Would people even be willing to split the cost of a 2 hour pool rental equally? So I'm not sure enough people are coming to make it worth while :/ I'd offer to have it at my apartment pool, but it's too small for more than 4 mers and it's possible the manager would kick us out, becuase technically I'm only supposed to have 2 people in the pool that are guests, max. Maybe it would be better to just try and find a pool where we could go to open swim instead of renting? :/ I'll ask this pool if we could just attend open swim, see what they say.

I think the best option is to just go to the pool on base. There would be limited dates but it would make sure we have the whole pool. You never know how many people will go to open swim at the other pool, and for open swim its only a little section of the pool the rest is reserved for lap swimming.

I would lovee to attend this but I have 3 other people coming with me to SC and we wouldn't have room in my car for my tail was well as all our cosplays. *sad*

Any progress on this? We're getting pretty well into April.
I thought I'd cast my vote for the 20th or the 27th. I'm also willing to pitch in for pool rental, I dunno about anyone else

Sorry, I've been updating on FB and not here. I'm really sorry guys, it's just been one thing after another after another with my health since I bought this up originally. Multiple colds (I have ANOTHER one right now that's kicking my butt), back thrown out, and my other disorders/illnesses deciding to flare up mostly all at once, along with mysterious new issues I've had to go to the doctor for. I don't want to commit to renting a pool when I don't even know if I'd be able attend the meeup, let alone host the meetup, due to my health. I can hardly get the things I need to get done done.
I'll try and email around to see if there's some place we can just go for an open swim/rec swim and pay the entry fee to get in, rather than renting a pool. If you guys want to call pools or organize something, feel free. I think we're trying to keep it around the puget sound area (Silverdale, Bremerton, Tacoma, Seattle) as far as I know.

Forest Park in Everett allows tails. I swim there with mine all of the time!
