Im making a cartoon for youtube about a hamster named Hamtara. She live with her owner Aubizella who is a famous actress and high school student. Aubizella has a loser boyfriend that is away in Romania on vacation. Aubizella has a total blow up when she can't reach him on her birthday. Hamtara is actually a were-hamster. It all begins when the cage starts shaking and a series of unusual things happen and Hamtara gets tests done at the vet but nothing medical shows up. It is on the full moon one night when Hamtara transforms. Her head spins, her eyes roll back, she makes SOS appear on her chest from the inside, talks in G Major and more. Aubizella and her family dont believe in were-animals but Hamtara could change their beliefs forever. Thre could be only one hope - the silver sunflower seed.

i meant " For " in the title.

I agree. It's an interesting concept for a cartoon. However, I would think about the names, especially the name of the hamster. There is already an animated show called Hamtaro. So your name, Hamtara is almost identical (just change the o to an a). So you may want to change the name so that it won't be confused with Hamtaro.

Mermaid Tula's right. The name would definitely be an issue.

There's no way anybody could get Hamtaro confused with Hamtara. Hamtaro is an anime series and Hamtara will be CGI. One look at the two shows and you'll instantly tell them apart. Second, the plot is WAY different. Hamtaro is about a navy and white anime hamster with a purple star in his right eye that lives in a big manor in Victorian times and well I listed the plot of the Hamtara series. Third, nobody is stopping me from naming a CGI hamster Hamtara and her owner Aubizella. Those names aren't copyrighted, in fact I think Hamtara roughly translates to " female" or " girl" hamster, just as Hamtaro translates to male, or boy hamster.

I was just saying that the names were very similar and the main characters are both hamsters.

As for Hamtaro being a navy and white hamster with a purple star in his right eye, that is not correct. Hamtaro is a white and orange-tan with solid black eyes. The big manor isn't a big manor, it's a 2 story house. It's not set in Victorian times. Just asking, but have you ever watched the show?

Hamtaro IS navy and white in the 2011 version of the Japanese anime series Hamtaro. And they DO live in a manor. It IS set in Victorian London. His other eye is blue and he often conceals the star with an eye patch, especially when his nuisance of a cousin/fiancée Bijou is around bijou is solid white with emerald green eyes and big spirally pigtails done in drills. ( Yeah, this is the 1800s, people, or hamsters in this case, married their cousins) he also has 3 servants who are complete idiots, a maid, ( Pashmina), a gardener ( Dexter) and chef ( Howdy) and a red and white red eyed aunt named Madam Ham. Don't believe me? Here's a pic!

Faerie Xweetok, you're the one who asked if your idea was "Funny, or original". I'm just letting you know that the name is very similar. As for you proof of Hamtaro being a 'navy and white hamster' it looks like something you drew up in paint program. Unless you can provide me an episode that shows Hamtaro like this, then no, I don't believe that he is blue, as I watched the show when I was younger. I can tell that I'm upsetting you, but when asking for feedback, you must take the good with the bad.

Well, you never seen the 2011 version of the show. The first pic of Madame Ham, the pic of Jingle, and the pic of Dexter are real. Go to youtube and search " Hamtaro 2011" and click the video uploaded by BrittaneyBeaver.

Okay. So that was obviously a fan made video. Not a real Hamtaro episode. All it showed was pictures (all that look like they were drawn in paint program, other than the fire xweetok from neopets). The art is cute, but sketchy, nothing like the actual show. The designs are mostly just re-colors of original characters. I'm sorry, but I still do not believe that this so called 2011 version of Hamtaro is real. So as I said before, unless you can show me an 'actual' episode (not a fan made one) then I'll believe you.

According to Wikipedia and imdb, Hamtaro was never recreated into a blue version. The video you linked was inf act a fan video. The newer version in 2011 was released under a new name, Tottoko Hamutaro Dechu, but was never aired in the US. However, in the newly named version, Hamtaro was still orange and white.

I showed the video to a friend who has seen Hamtaro (and many other anime's and she pointed out this to me) The eye in the blue hamtaro fan sketch is actually from this anime.

I have to agree with everyone else, it sounds like a pretty interesting idea but the similarity of "Hamtara" and "Hamtaro" is a little too close-- I used to watch the show all the time with my little cousin and was a pretty big fan of it, so it actually took me a couple of re-reads of your character's name before I realized your character's name was different.

And... yeah, uhm, that video was clearly a fan video and the claim in the description doesn't even make any sense... The actual Hamtaro show was nothing like that at all. :S

Your thinking of the ORIGINAL Hamtaro. Im talking about the 2011 version. It IS rated TV-14. Laura, Hamtaros owner is DEAD. She died in a fire when the original Ham-Ham Manor burned down and Hamtaro was ham-napped, a marks as burnt into him, and thus a contract was formed! I remember seeing the episode where Madam Ham died, and Hamtaro said that tiger lilies quote, the episode where Bijou screams "I HATE THIS RING, TAKE IT!", and the episode with the ghost camera ( the ham cam) on TV. So don't tell me this doesnt exist.

The "2011 version" you're talking about IS FAKE. The only base you have for that claim is is some poorly-scribbled fanart video on YouTube posted literally a week ago with no credible sources whatsoever.

I seriously have no idea what you're even talking about at this point and I'm honestly just kind of inclined to think you're pulling everyone's tails for sh!ts and giggles.

I second the idea that someone is pulling our legs...or fins in this case. It seems odd to create an account on a mermaid forum to pitch an idea about a cartoon.

Normally I wouldn't even think about that part, since the Chatterbox has conversations on all sorts of topics not necessarily mer-related, but I'm seriously side-eyein' the hell out of this one.

Account made a week ago (conveniently the same time this "Hamtaro 2011" video they're talking about got posted to YouTube...) the only posts they've made have been in this thread, nothing about them here has anything to do with mers and they're arguing about... Something that makes absolutely zero sense. Seriously, I'm getting some major Candle Cove vibes all over again.

Either they're a kid just trolling for fun or they were smoking some amazing stuff and wandered too far from the Neopets forums.

That said, I've spent my day off sorting 2500 Pokémon cards, watching Ru Paul's Drag Race, and debating children's cartoon hamsters on a mermaid forum.

This has been a weird Wednesday.

My reaction to someone telling me the Hamtaro 2011 version doesn't exist. This version is absolutely not for children, itis targeted at teens and adults. Second, Hamtaro and the gang are anime hamsters. I had to tell you that. Huge difference between anime characters and Japanese cartoon characters. ( That actually had nothing to do with Hamtaro, somebody told me that one about Ciel the midget was a Japanese cartoon and I made this face)

Third, why is this even a debate?

Starfrit
03-06-2014, 01:01 AM
Except that, lol, it doesn't exist?? You have zero proof that it does beyond some kid's MSpaint scribbles on YouTube and there isn't a single Google result for the hot mess you described. It's already been pointed out that the weird eye design you claim was in this nonexistent show was ripped off from The Black Butler.

I'm not even sure why it's a debate either, to be honest! People pointed out that your "Hamtara" character's name was too similar to "Hamtaro" and you started using a nonexistent show to argue that the names... Aren't similar?

Really I'm just here because I'm completely and utterly baffled, haha.

Edit: Expanding on the google results... The only things I've found mentioning a "Hamtaro 2011" have been discussions from around the same time period regarding the re-airing of the original series in North America and your typical Hamtaro fanart, nothing about these weird Black Butler-knockoff hamster torturing shenanigans you're claiming (the only results I got were fanfiction.net links.)

The only non-ff.net links I've found pertaining to any sort of "older audience" version you've described have been (excluding this forum) two posts on two separate websites, within the last week, by the usernames Faerie Usul and Faerie Xweetok. Only one of those posts had a reply to it, and it was from a fake account.

The plot thickens!

I'm just going to leave this here....

When I was much younger and internet was still dial-up, I used to find amusement in logging on AOL chat forums and proclaiming outrageous things just to see peoples reactions. On the inside, my joy was derived knowing that adults were arguing passionately with a 12 year old.

See, this is fascinating to me in a weird way; even though I'm 23 and have been online since I was eight, I've never encountered this kind of fun, harmless brand of trolling (I'm so used to the really offensive, vulgar ones that rely on triggering their targets to get a reaction) that I keep wanting to feed it to see what else it'll do.

... Well, that and having been born a middle child, I'm a special breed of stubborn. So there's that.

What about the Alvin and the Chipmunks 4 plot? I found this. http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?t=34204 Doesnt, that sound like a real box office winner? An icon waiting to happen? I so hope that's real, cause, truth be told I wanna see that. What really made me wanna see that is i read somewhere else, is that Charlene slaps one of the veterinarians and they fall ( screw logic right?) and growls " GET AWAY! THE SQUIRREL IS MINE"!

Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 came out in 2009, the third in 2011 ( same year as Hamtaro spin off. And that plot is real. Don't you wanna see it too? I mean what's not funny or entertaining about a chipmunk peeing on the carpet and telling somebody their gonna die up there? Oh and don't forget about that floating.
