Here it is! It's made with an old bra, aquarium silicone, and some scraps of fishnet, old bellydancing coins, some sequins and shells...

They're not a top yet, but I just found this cool looking shell on Etsy, as well as another group of 12 smaller shells with barnacles on them. I ordered them to cast and make a top out of. :) Once cast, I'll probably pour them in resin. I can pour the barnacles white/purple/natural colors and then pour the shells in other colors so they stand out! I've yet to see mermaid tops with barnacles on the shells! Maybe even put gems and crystals in the barnacles?

I'm working on a swimmable top to match my Nile Goddess Mythic, but I did make a dry gig/cosplay top based off of the Lilypad Mermaid from Disney's "Peter Pan!" I tend to prefer a more modest look, so I'm planning on adding a lot more draping fishnet for my performance top.

Hi ladies, I need your advice. I have to whip up a quick mermaid top for a fun little photoshoot I am doing for my niece on Monday. I bought a nude bra her size, some large scallop shells, pearls etc. I'm in a quandary about how to attach the real seashells to the bra. If I had time I would have cast them in silicone but just no time for that. I have E6000, Alex plus silicone, hot glue, fabric glue. Which is the best? This will be a beach shot so not fully immersed in the water. I may have to use a combo to attach the starfish and pearls.
Any thoughts?

E6,000 Glue is the best

E6000 if you have the time and want it to last. I've used it for smaller shells on a headpiece, and all I can say is to keep it under pressure for at least a full day.

Hot glue might also work if you're pressed for time, but it's messy, you'd need a lot, and it likely won't keep together after the shoot.

So here it is. Wish my phone had a better camera but it gets the point across. The top part is encrusted with pearls and crystals that gradually deepen to shades of green and turquoise (to match the tail ) as they encircle the scallop shells. Mermaids like sparkle, right?

Thanks Khaleesi! I designed that top in a hurry just for the shoot knowing she wouldn't actually be immersed in the ocean. I went ahead and sealed the starfish knowing it would get wet because of some of the poses and it was fine, but if I had more time I would cast it in silicone or resin. They're fragile by nature and I would want it to last if someone was actually swimming in it. Since that's the first Mermaid top I have made, I would have to think of a price that was cost efficient. So flattered you like it!

I'm really proud of my tops! I have a lot of different ones, and each one is special to me. I have a few plain white tees, some patterned ones, and a few that are a bit more dressy. I love wearing them all, and I feel confident and stylish in each one.;)
