Might make an etsy shop soon, suggestions?

Hey guys! So January I ordered my tail from finfolk, and paid half. So I'm working for my dad to make the other half now, but I am thinking of opening an etsy shop soon to help make some more money faster. I'll be selling jewelry, hair clips/circlets maybe, belts, etc etc. do you guys think this is a good idea?

Possibly! I've seen mermaids make money and I've seen mermaids lose money on creating etsy items and shops. Just know that it's an investment, and like any investment, it might end up falling through. I'm not sure people realize this when they start up an etsy, and since you already have a debt I just wanted to mention it. So don't spend more on supplies than you're willing to take as a loss! Good luck! :)

Awesome!!!! I too am going to set up an Etsy account but like Iona said investments can end good or bad so you should always have a back up like craft fairs or even see what other people might be interested in its always good to have options

Basically the usual selection, belts, hair clips, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and necklaces are an idea and I'd only recommend tops if the shop is going well as they seem to be the biggest investment. A thing you might wanna try is maybe making a few sample products to see how people respond to your product. Maybe make a couple of each item you plan to sell, promote them on a FB page (or your mermaid page) and have a giveaway (with people sharing photos of your products) to get entries so that it gets even more exposure.

Right now on Etsy there aren't but a few mermaid hair clips, the main ones on Hyli's Etsy (SirenAllure). I love hers and I have one of them on my birthday wishlist, but when I was searching I was really surprised to find so few.

Really? I've found lots of hair clips- they're always on my feed on FB and Instagram it seems (from mer etsy stores). That's why I don't make simpler hair clips- cause there are tons already. But yeah, only do tops if you're willing to chance more. I could make tops for sale with stunning shells, but I just don't have the money to chance on it. Gonna see how other stuff sells first.

And MerEmma, she has some beautiful pieces! I think hair clips will be a must if I open up a shop :)

I made a LOT of hair clips and jewelry last summer to sell on my Etsy. I still have everything because nothing ever sold. Just didn't have the money to keep putting it back up for listing. I honestly sell more through my FB page than I ever did through Etsy.

Now many of you know me I love armbands, if you could make a Merman armband I'd buy it in an instant although I don't know what other people might like I'm trying to do an all Mer/Sea related product to widen some of the Etsy Mers interests like weight belts for instance
