North San Diego YMCA - this one allows monofins

Today we toured the YMCA my BF uses. They not only provide fins for the pool areas, I asked and they do allow monofins. I didn't ask about tails because I haven't joined yet- we need to move closer to this place. Still, allowing monofins is more than some YMCAs do.

This is the nicest YMCA. The pool is sooo nice.

It's the Ecke YMCA in Encinitas.

I've been swimming at the YMCA in Santee in a full tail (cloth) since January and they don't mind. There's even been up to 3 of us in tails, and no one minds. Good to know not all YMCA's are against having mermaids in the pool.

I'm also pet sitting in Downey (LA area), and while I'm not a fan of the Downey YMCA (indoor, and only about 3.5 feet deep in the whole pool), the Lakewood (about 20 minutes away) YMCA has been fantastic! Just about every employee has taken a picture of me and the kids on the weekends love it.

That's great to know- this woman didn't know what a monofin was but when I explained it, she was positive about the okay. I also wondered if tails would be allowed because of the rule stated about 'swimwear must be worn at all times.'

I wonder what's the deal with all the Ys that don't allow fins? Downers.

Yeah, when I called and asked the Santee YMCA, they did the same thing. I explained that they're flippers but are connected to make it one fin. They had to ask a manager... but the manager came on and sait it was ok as long as I was a strong swimmer. Told them I was and that was the end of it.

Lucky you about swimming in a tail at a YMCA. I was told to take mine off at a Y. Why I don't know. I tried to get an answer an they never replyed. But this was after I had swam in a tail there a few times.
