Does anybody own one or several of those?

The dol-fins and Lunocet are built with a new principle; instead of replacing water like conventional monofins, they generate an up-lift.
Most competitive freedivers still use a type of hyperfin.

I've read all reviews and watched all vids I could find, but most are just advertisements of the inventors :p
It's hard to tell any difference in speed when watching the videos,
and they're all a little too expensive to just buy them and try them out :/

I've seen those... What I don't get is, how does one skinny blade provide enough propulsion to get you moving?

This is similar. Wonder how it does in water? Wasn't able to find any videos though.

like I said; you don't shovel water with the dol-fin/Lunocet type of monofin, you create an up-lift similar to a bird's wing.

I found this review with many videos

and while it's a good read, the divers in the videos don't look really fast to me.
they kick a lot and don't cover much distance :p
meh, I really don't know.

Oh sorry. Guess I don't enough about monofins!

But do you do the same type of swimming for movement?

I have the dol-fin monofin, but I do not own any others to compare them with, so I'm not much of a help ;) I do know I can swim pretty fast with it as long as I don't cover the blade of the monofin

^^yep, having another to do a comparison is kinda the point ;)

oh well, I guess I'll just have to save up for one eventually.

Hi Caltuna,

The priciple of a normal and a Hyperfin is nearliy the same. Both types of monofin creates the thrust by accelerating water. The Hyperfins a smaler amount with a higer speed and the normal Monofin with a larger amount with a lower speed. If you want to reach a high speed is the hyperfin the better option.

But the Lunocet looks like a very good option for extendet mermaidtails. Maybe i order one later, but now is it to expansive for me.

Have you seen this review, Caltuna? The author compares a Dolfin Orca to monofins quite a bit.

Fantastic review, thanks!
I'd be totally sold on the Orca if it were a tad more affordable.

As for using the Lunocet in a tail- the shape of the fin is lovely, but the concept with the cycling shoes would make for a really bulky tail in an awkward place.
