Hey everyone, I'm Allie and I'm new to the site! I joined recently and would love some new friends who live nearby or even far away, I don't mind either one!

I am currently working on a tail, it probably won't be swimable until summer or late spring, but that doesn't mean I won't be swimming once it's warm! Tail or not, I'm ready to start swimming and working on my leg muscles because I know they will be needing it after such a long winter.

I'm located in South Carolina just minutes from Augusta, Georgia and about an hour or so south of Lake Thurmond (my favorite spot so far). If anyone is willing to meet up once the weather is perfect, I'd love a group swim at the lake to get to know some fellow merfolk.

Hi welcome to the site :)

i feel your pain regarding swimming haha Australia is coming out of summer and into Autum so we can only swim on really warm days hahHa feel free to ask questions and wander through the forums :) there's heaps of advice on monofins and making tails so feel free to explore! Welcome to the forum! For meeting people in your area, there's a section of the forum for threads relating to your region: http://mernetwork.com/index/forumdisplay.php?58-Pod-of-the-South

There's also a member map that you can use to find out who's near you: http://mernetwork.com/index/dcMembermap.php

Also there's a Facebook group for mermaids and mermen in the South: https://www.facebook.com/groups/309118012463977/

Welcome to the boards! I'm a Canuck from the frigid north (that is to say, one of Canada's most southernmost points), so I am used to an environment which is more Frozen than The Little Mermaid....

I'm sorry you have a bit of a drive to get to a large body of water, but hopefully it is clean water!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! And yes the lake is pretty clean, besides your occasional beer can, but it's much cleaner than the lake closest to me! There's rumors about the Langley Pond, such as mutated fish and glow-in-the-dark kids, I doubt they're true, but I'd rather not risk it :)

Hi Allie! I am just starting my mermaid journey as well, and I live only one state away, in NC!
