Hello fellow mermaids and merman!
My name is Dennieblue and I'm new to the reef
I make beautiful custom latex tails that look similar to some high end silicone tails
As many of you know making a tail is expensive and there are few to none latex tail makers which is a cheaper alternative to silicone and can be equally beautiful
So I decided that if I can raise enough money and can begin selling my latex tails!
Please let me know if you are interested!

It is absolutely not okay to use another tail maker's work as your own. Or any other art or photos that aren't yours. If you don't have photos of your work, don't post any at all. Using photos of Mahina (and her tail) and a well known digital art tail for your campaign makes people automatically think you're a fraud and scammer.
Also starting a tail making business when you've only swam in a monofin and someone else's tail, and haven't ever made one? A very bad decision. You need to establish your tail making technique, and test your products for durability and functionality before you start selling. Usually tail higher end makers start behind the scenes (at least a year) before they start selling to assure quality products that will hold up. Also selling things when you're just turning 16, and under 18, is illegal. Especially with tails, as they're hundreds to thousands of dollars. You would have to have your parents/legal guardian oversee everything and fill out proper paperwork, or you could find yourself in trouble with the law.

Iona I highly respect you so I'm just going to clarify.
I have made several latex tails before. For myself and friends. I have also sold tails locally. In my state it is not illegal to sell things under the age of 18, and also I used those images off the internet because my camera is currently broken but will be fixed by next week and I will have plenty of pictures then.

well I must be confused somewhere since your profile says you don't own a tail, also you started a thread saying you were getting your first ever tail.... So I find it hard to believe you've made "several" tails for "yourself and friends"

If you don't have photos of your own work, remove the photos you put up that aren't yours. Otherwise you will get nothing but non-respect from the community members. There's history behind this. If you don't have photos, just have no photos or replace it with some text in a jpg that you can switch out later.
Also, what you says doesn't match up.. your first thread was "First tail EVER!" and how you wanted a silicone one for your first tail and trying to decide who to get it from. You asked for advice for "a first time mermaid". You also said, "The good news is that I have swam with a mono fin before :D and I have tried on and swam with fabric tails that belonged to a friend". So never had a tail, only swam in a monofin and a tail that belonged to someone else. Now you're saying you've made molded slip cast latex tail for yourself and friends? And sold said tails locally?
Edit: Also I just checked my PMs and you just asked me about latex tail makers. "Do you know if any good latex tailmakers? I'm looking for something realistic without getting something silicone or fabric." Why would you ask that if you made latex tails yourself?

To clarify some more.
I have never bought a tail before that's why I said first tail ever
I asked about other tail makers because I wanted to see how realistic their tails are. I will remove the images to clear this up it was all just a mistake.
I look forward to posting pictures of my work and who knows maybe you'll buy a tail from my when I start selling them :)

Bluejay1481 I have been on this forums for a long while now an from my point of veiw I have seen so many mers get burned from people that say they make tails an don't. I am not saying that you don't make tails, but you have to look at it this way. At this point an time you have no pictures up to prove your work or even sketches. I would love to see your work like most of us do like to see new works. So when I say this it's not to be taken in a harsh way, when you said you make tails you basicly have to prove yourself. Not just fo me but for eveybody else on your work an quality of your work. It just has to be seen, we can't just take your word for it without proof. This way nobody gets burned.

Blue, why not ask your friends who you've made tails for to take a picture of them and then you could post those. Or you could borrow someone else's camera to take pictures with. Even a camera phone picture would suffice just to prove that you're not just blowing steam about your making of tails.

I hope you understand that I don't meant to be harsh, but with this kind of thing I have to be stern and questioning. It's kind of my job as admin to be on the look out for scammers (and we get a lot of them). I have to err on the side of caution.
That being said, I'll be happy to be proven wrong ;) I look forward to photos of your tails!

You really need to take those pictures down. You said you did yet they are still up on your fundraiser page. That is absolutely not okay and in violation of copyright

Its still there today, and I just sent an email to Mahina Mermaid regarding the stolen image.
Edit: Wah! I just got an email back from THE mermaid herself!
She left a serious message on that person's page.
