Hey guys i was planning on getting the Finis Competitor Monofin (wave and rapid are too small) for a tail i'm making, but unlike the wave and rapid you cant really taco fold the competitor into the tail so i need ideas so i could put the fin in through the fluke, I was thinking maybe putting a zipper at the end so i could put the fin in and zip it up but that might be too heavy and not very stylish id appreciate any other ideas for holding the end closed buttons/clips/whatever else

I could thik of a couple of ways how to do it, but it depends on how your fluke would look like.

One option I have is make your tail open-ended and sew just the corners of the fabric so that you still can put your fin in and out.

I used velcro at the bottom of my neoprene tail an it worked pretty good.

well, i know Hannah Fraser uses fluke zippers, and so does mermaid Bonnie, i'm pretty sure. it would probably look fine if you hid it with fringe/ extra fins. you could probably use a lighter zipper too, since it doesn't have to withstand stretching like a dorsal zipper would.

My tail has Velcro, and you can't see it when you swim...but it also has fringe at the end.

Both of my fabric tails have partially open fluke ends. To be sure the monofin isn't seen, I added some light, flowy spandex fabric to the end of the fluke, and that covers the monofin quite well. It does add some drag when swimming, though.

But it also looks really pretty. I've done that before with a fabric tail haha.

All the flukes of my fabric tails have plastic zippers at the end so I can add/remove a monofin when needed ;)
