*sigh*
If that is wood, its not going to work. It will break and when the splinters go into your skin, it will hurt a lot.
I give up.

Just to be sure if an when you finish the tail be sure to use stainless screws an or nuts an bolts. This way they will not stain the tail if they rust. Looks good so far.

I would go one step further and use nylon bolts.
I am curious to see how this turns out! Good luck!

Not to be rude, but that doesn't look stable at all. Everything is connected crooked and I'm not even sure what anything is made of.
on another note, it kind of looks photoshopped together to me:p:$
But if it's real, props to you for trying! It's more daring than I'd ever attempt

You know... why doesn't someone take a flexible yet stiff pipe cut it down the center a bit (hot dog style) just enough to fit a lexan monofin down into the small slit in the pipe... then maybe screw or fasten the pipe to the lexan monofin the take the other end of the pipe and some how run it up the center of the tail fit snug between the legs with straps and then set to a board with a hole under the feet to keep the pip from slipping around to much....
If that makes sense...... ???

I'm wondering why every time I've seen someone attempt this kind of tail, they use hinges to attach things. Not that I've tried if myself, but it seems to me that it would kill any propulsion you'd get from your kick and make it very hard to swim in.
I think making a solid piece something like what kelphina is talking about would be better for swimming in general.
With that said, what are you planning to shape the end of the tail with, Pedropimenta? You want to fill in around your feet and around the pvc so it is smoother otherwise tail will look baggy there :( does that make sense?

Not a lot of people have ventured down this path. I say give it a whirl no matter what! Maybe test the monofin in the pool first before you put it in a tail?

creating the extension is one of the hardest things to do in this kind of tail. it's very hard to achieve the moving mechanism. ive tried multiple times and i ended up making a silicone one but nothing like this. good to see how it goes. good luck.

Now I think every Mer has tried to think of a way to create an extended tail but somehow in some step or procedure it can effect how your tail comes out. I think you have guts for taking on this project and I'm rooting for you all the way but I would defiantly TEST!!!TEST!!!!TEST!!! Make sure everything is secure and works before attaching the extended part to the tail. I wish you luck!!
