So- I just got my Finfolk tail recently and encountered a problem I'm sure many of you are more than familiar with- fully drying your tail. It is especially difficult here in Florida- with our EXTREMELY humid weather.
My solution (and I have no idea if this has been suggested before) is a rack to support the fluke and hang the tail upside down to let the water flow out of it. It's going to have a slot on the bottom for a bucket or pan, something to that degree, underneath the tail to catch the water. I might try and incorporate some kind of mount for a fan to point up into the tail to keep air flowing into it- I haven't decided yet.
As far as materials- I'm currently thinking PVC piping or something similar. Would have to use the thicker ones to support the tails weight.
I wanted to include this thread because I am a little jealous of all of you out there (and you know who you are...) who are gifted with amazing crafting and artistic ability; and I wanted to contribute something to the community that would be useful in a field that I consider myself fairly skilled in: engineering. The other reason I'm keeping a written log is that I tend to have ideas for projects, get excited, buy stuff, and start; but never finish them. I haven't finished one of my projects in a while, and I could use a morale boost.
So; I'll be posting updates as I gather materials and get everything together. I should have some kind of rough schematic within a week. I do plan to head over to Home Depot or Lowe's to look at parts and materials this weekend and should have a decision on a couple different features after that. I plan to have it built by my birthday at the end of the month.
Any comments, suggestions, or constructive criticism are welcome and appreciated. Thanks! :D
