Hello,
this morning, i was at the "Hamburger Fischmarkt". It is a huge and famous market for fish and other food and stuff in germany.
There i have seen a very nice fish with a beautiful color. But i dont know the name of the fish.
The blue color is very nice for a mermaid.

I hope you can help me to find out the name of this fish.

Definitely a parrot fish, which is a type of wrasse. I believe that it is a bicolor parrot fish, which are found in the indopacific and caught in the red sea for food.

Parrotfish (http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/animal-guide/fishes/parrotfish) Some odd fact to know about them; they sleep in mucus cocoons to avoid predators and they eat hard coral and poop sand.

They can also change their gender : )

AHAHAHAA. Either I just had some serious deja vu, or you and me had talked about this before on my FB.

It's definitely a parrotfish. It looks like it could be a Princess or Queen Parrotfish to me because of the blue on top and the peach-ish bottom

Some parrotfish are considered keystone species because they're mostly herbivorous, and their herbivory protects the reefs from being overcome by algae. There are pretty heavy restrictions on harvesting herbivorous fish in some places, and in some places it's actually illegal. I'd suggest not buying or eating parrotfish for the reef's sake. :)
It's interesting that you saw one though. I don't go to fish markets, but I wonder if parrotfish are common there.

When I went to Taiwan and visited the Night Market in search of stinky tofu, I saw a large aquarium filled with colorful reef fish. Next to the tank was a large pot filled with boiling oil, where they were cooking them.

Some parrot fish species can reach up to 4 ft in length! Imaging meeting that in the ocean!

They're not a dangerous fish though, if you see one that big, give it a hug and pat on the nose.

That they are. The tail I'm "working" on (and by working, I mean staring at the sculpt and going "ugh, I don't want to deal with it") is based on one of the species found by where I used to live.

Hahaha, I already am. That blue works perfect with my skin-tone. It's also very close to the blue the parrotfishes in Iran are. ;)

How about a mottled pattern like this blue lobster, then?

That'd be pretty for mermaid armor. Not sure I'd like it on my tail, but I think that's because my eyesight is bad, so I'd probably end up not knowing if my tail is dirty or if it's the paint on it, and then, well.... I'd probably likely swim in a dirty tail on accident. :rollover:

Just make sure that it's more swimmable than classical (metal mostly) armour, otherwise you'll look like a pretty silly mer! :help::mermaid kiss:

When you're in the boat canals down in the Florida Keys you can hear and see them chewing on the coral. It's pretty neat!

(Unless you're coral. ;) )

I can imagine it now...the coral screaming up at us for help as we stare down in wonder at the monster that harms it. Poor coral :(
