Has any one tried to make a strapless top that has bigger breasts?
i see Mers making them out of Adhesive bras but they don't make
them any bigger then a D..
i really want to make a strapless top but not sure if it will stay up lol
can you make them out of a normal strapless bra? :cthulhu:

Yes, you can make a top out of a strapless bra, though if you're going to be swimming in it, I would suggest straps of some kind; either clear 'invisible' straps, or use fishnet to make straps.

That is a good idea ! i probably would not have though of that till it was to late lol!
i like the scale top idea but i havent figured out how to make that and i wonder how the fish net would look with a scale top?

Hey there! I'm not big busted myself but you can find quite a few strapless bra options online actually if you try. They're pricey, but they can be found!

But really, for swimming, a strapless bra doesn't seem like the best idea. A lot of mers use them initially so they can add straps but I know Raina's old strapless bra top, actually had straps that were clear and we couldn't see them. With the way you swim underwater you'd have to be holding it up probably 100% of the time because of the water pushing down on it it'd probably pull it right down.

With that said, I don't see adhesive bras working too well either. Maybe they would, but it seems like the water would unfix it pretty quick. I don't have any experience in that area, though.

If you did want to use a strapless bra anyway, make sure it is the correct size! Nearly all mainstream bra companies (particularly in the US) subscribe to the idea that D cup automatically means big but that's not necessarily the case. Victoria's Secret particularly will size everyone to fit in their own line so as to sell product when their bras only correctly fit a small part of the population. For example, I used to be a 32A but once properly sized I'm really a 28D. The gore (center part) of your bra should tack against your chest and the band should sit firmly against your back.

A great example of a before/after is this particular thread on the subreddit I mention below. The first, ill-fitting bra is a 36D and the second after she sized herself and bought a 34G.

If you feel like you might be in the wrong size, you should check out a proper calculator. There's also Reddit, which has a subreddit /r/abrathatfits and they're an amazing community that is super helpful for people with larger breasts (which isn't me :P). http://www.brasizecalculator.tk/

I know what size i am 36 DDD :sad eyes: which seems to be a huge problem with tops lol. i really love strapless but it never seems to work im going have to try and make straps some how. which is upsetting :cthulhu::cthulhu:

If it helps at all, strapless doesn't really work optimally on ANY chests. Small, medium or big the lack of straps just is never ideal. :P

That is true. but even shell bras are so difficult to make for a large size. i Adore them! but im not sure how id make that work either :cthulhu::cthulhu:

On Etsy the store MythandMagic (can't remember their Mernetwork username at this moment) sells bigger shells in silicone for tops. :) https://www.etsy.com/shop/MythandMagic?ref=pr_faveshops

Here are some other threads you could check out about tops for mermaids with larger breasts:

I'd use a clear-strapped bra if I were you rather than strapless. I'm a 34J, and the clear straps work well in conjunction with a properly fitted band on me.

Like MerEmma said, strapless doesn't really work well on any chest size.

Abalone might also be a shell to look into, because lion's paws shells (which I think are the one's that are usually used for mermaid tops) aren't very deep, or very wide. Larger abalone though is deeper and wider. You may still have to resort to some additional "greenery" though"

As for the self-adhesive bras... Ok, this will sound a bit crass, but I'm not sure any other way to put it... They don't make them larger than a D cup because breasts larger than that weigh too much to be able to be supported by that shape and without a back. Even a true D cup is probably not going to feel all that supported by a self-adhesive bra.

Ahhh that makes perfect sense. and ill look into the Abalone shells. I have drawn out ideas for tops that would be pretty with straps since there necessary :cthulhu::cthulhu:

Last resort could be plastic sea shells.

I bought a seashell bra from a costume shop. They're big size, one size fits all. Made with thick plastic, not as flimsy as I thought they were, they could pass off as plates even!

They're big size, one size fits all.

I highly doubt that... (not doubting they're big, I'm doubting that they're "one size fits all" because anyone with a DDD cup or larger knows from personal experience that phrase means nothing in practice.)

Pff. I have the big boob issue. Went from a dd to an e...so I actually went and bought a bathing suit top that fits (and does not move at all) and sewed sequins and things to it. I need to get a picture of it, but if you can find a place that sells swimsuits for busty ladies, you could probably find onr that fits and modify it. I'm eventually going to finish sewin stuff on the top, but swimming kinda causes problems with being able to do that haha.

Hint hint, my mother suggested that I say something about titlenine and athleta. They have sizes up to DD cups and fairly simple ones that can be embellished, and you can buy them separately. The suits are also made for active swimming, so they stay on.
