Saw this on my feed, and I thought it was a good idea for a mermaid setup at dry events! Home Made Water Blob (http://www.homemadetoast.com/2013/07/how-to-make-leak-proof-water-blob.html)

(source (http://www.homemadetoast.com/2013/07/how-to-make-leak-proof-water-blob.html))

I was thinking a small one, big enough for the mermaid to sit on and have the tail out in front, but small enough so kids can walk around the perimeter to touch the tail, ect. It would have to be tested to see how well it could take the weight at that size though. Still, you could make it any color you wanted with food coloring, and it looks really cool!

Also if you have a big enough spot, you could rope off an area and allow a few kids at a time in to get on a bigger water blob with you :)

that's a cool idea for any gigging mer!
so much more mermaidy than just sitting on a chair.

there are also inflatable "bubbles" large enough a person can step in, like a giant goldfish bowl.
not sure whether those would work with a tail though.

Just realized depending on how you iron it, you could make it into different shapes too :)

This is a cool idea. It might be a bit risky for indoor gigs, but outside, it would be a great little mermaid stage.

Oh, I am so making at least one of these! Maybe I'll make one to fit in a kiddie pool for the mermaid parade this year!

I'm still cackling about how they started arguing about neanderthals and omg, the internet is a wonderful place.

these are the inflatable bubbles:

apparently, they can even be rolled over deep water.
Not sure if usable with a tail though.

I think you would really look like a fish out of water in a bubble with a tail!

I wonder if you could fill one of these half full with water?

This is a great idea! And when I see the bubbles I can't help but think of a mermaid fish bowl, lol. These are awesome!

That water blob is such an awesome idea! Plus, it seems to be really easy to build. And for the filling port, one could do something like a roll-up seal, clamped down with bulldog clips or so (just what spontaneous came to my mind, there is a seal like that on the water bladder of my drinking backpack).
On the other hand, duck tape won't punch the foil and won't pose an injury risk (but it looks so home-made... ;) ).

Would be so cool to use one of those bubbles if they had one big enough! Especially if you could add water and roll/push it around!!(:
