So my best friend's sister is getting married in June, and of course my best friend has been a mixture of super excited and overloaded trying to help with everything, haha. But anyway, she showed me something a while back that's usually a bridal fashion. I drug the photo into my "creative ideas" folder (who else has one? Mine has so many photos!) and promptly forgot about it until I went back to it today. I thought was the coolest thing and thought I'd share :) I geeked out cause I already have a minor obsession with pearls :P Now that I have a little free time I think I might be making one.. cause I mean c'mon. How cool!

Raven made and wore one for her wedding in 2012 and a friend of mine just got married today and was wearing one too. I think they're stunning but I'm not sure how practical for anything in water. Still very lovely

Hers is really pretty :) I'll have to link a photo when she puts one up for the public to see (I don't want to link from her personal profile, breach of privacy kind of thing).
That's right, I forgot Raven wore one! I thought it was part of her dress! Apparently they're big with fantasy inspired weddings. My best friend and her sister were raised with LOTR and other fantasy books so she was looking into circlets and dangley ear cuffs, and that's how she found them. They're like circlets for your shoulders almost. Which, again- too cool. I'm such a huge sucker for dangly loopy styles like that.
I think if you did it right you could wear it in the water. Otherwise yeah, it'd be a dry event thing. I hate wearing strapless stuff (my shoulders are kinda boxy IMO) but for one of these babies I'd totally do that.

So pretty~ They look very regal. That first one looks almost like a military uniform with epaulettes.

Ironically, I am wearing one of these for my wedding in June. I purchased a simple, silver piece off of Etsy and I'm going to be bedazzling it with pearls. I'll put up photos of it when I'm done. :3

A girl came in with her prom group to our restaurant the other night, and she had one on! But here's looked like those weird things you see on princes shoulders in Disney mo is, the fringey things that remind me of hairbrushes. Except in was all done in jewels.... Anyway the simple elegant ones are so beautiful :)

Wow, these are gorgeous! What a great idea. Pearls and shells and seaweed shoulder necklace would be lovely on a mermaid.

Wow, so pretty! These things would be awesome for dry events. It's too bad they wouldn't work underwater. They'd be gorgeous like that, especially one made entirely out of pearls and shells and stuff like that.

Nice! I wonder if it would look good on a merman.

I'd say plain shells would be pretty much unisex. Something like this wouldn't be very hard to make, either, just string some pre-drilled shell beads onto some string or fishing line.

I bet you could make it swimmable by having almost "straps" made of fishing line or strips of netting and hooks or clips or something to hook around your upper arm and one around your shoulder to keep it floating up. If that makes sense? Or am I just blabbering?

It is secured to the handwoven rope macrame. tied down and 100% secure in place ready to face a fierce ocean's tide! :D

Looks great Melu! That would look great with a shell top for sure :)
Swimmable shoulder necklaces definitely mean being tied or clasped down to the shoulders in some fashion. Otherwise it would end up in a tangled mess of chain and hair in the end

You could also use elastic cord, like the stretchy clear stuff, like "sleeves" of straps so there's no pinching.
And haha Iona that's what happened when I learned the hard way not to wear starfish earrings in water
