I was wondering what are some of the pros and cons of using dragon skin to make a full tail. Such as, how I would go about painting it? How does it hold up in water, chlorinated vs. salt vs fresh? And how easy is it to maintain? As well as anything else you would like to add.

I'm not sure if you're asking for making tails or buying one but dragonskin is the best silicone on the market. There's not really a con except price and cure inhibition, but you pay for the best, and cure inhibiton happens to any silicone. I'm not sure what the alternative is unless youre considering it vs latex or something else....?

I'm looking at it for making a tail eventually and I have always just heard it was the best. For now however for now I am going to be sticking with the good old spandex and monofin till I am more comfortable with my sculpting and have a fixed source of income.

Keep in mind though an actual silicone tail definitely has cons for when it comes to wearing it. This has been discussed a LOT on the forum though and just from browsing the right threads you'll find them (eg. it's very heavy, can be difficult to swim with, etc.)

I have put some thought into that which is why I'm going with a lighter weight fabric option to strengthen my swimming. Since i was a kid ive always swam without kicking but I have also never had my legs bound so I know there will be some difficulty but I will check out the threads and read through them. :)

If you've never really used your legs to swim before you really should take a monofin to start swimming, or even just start without one and doing butterfly kick in the water. It takes a lot of muscle to do it and it can be very tiring.
