Treasure Chests

So I'm currently working on a mermaid chest so I thought people could post ideas and inspiration they want to share : ) I plan on staining it, has anyone done something similar instead of using paint?

I'm in the process of making one during my free time! I'm going to attempt burning/carving a pattern into it as well as staining it.

I got some blue wood stain and plan on painting silver designs on it i'll post pics soon :)

I made a little one for holding mermaid trinkets. I got the unfinished chest from Michael's and painted it. Then made the octopus out of sculpy and painted that too. Everything is glued on and the chest still opens completely even with tentacles going down the back.

This is what I have so far, I stained it blue and spray painted the stencils on with gold. I made the coins out of clay and I'll post more as I progress. : )

I'm going to put a few on top of the chest : ) I'm going to put stuff I need for gigs inside the chest plus I'm adding a lock got keep little finger out of it
