Hello all! I'm a new Mer starting out, I've not got my first tail together yet but thanks to all you wonderful merfolk it's quickly getting into the works. As stated in the title I am a Jacksonville Mermaid from Duval County. I don't go out to the beach a lot mostly because of time away from work and a house full of working roomies but that all changes this summer!

I've lived in a pool every summer since childhood and my friends and I used to do the kiddie thing of wearing two legs in a pair of pants and swimming like mermaids with our flippers. (not very well I might add) but we had fun.

Now that we've grown up we want to give being real mers a try. I look forward to sharing our trials with my fellow merfolk and will most appreciably take advice from anyone willing to give it.

Thanks!

Hi Dana and welcome. There are lots of us mers in Florida...I live close to Daytona Beach so not too far. We do have meetups and such down here every once in a while and new mers are always welcome.

I'm hoping in the next few months I'll be introducing at least 3 new mers to the southern pod. I'd love to meet the other mers in my area. I've found two count you WavyM.

Hey Dana! I actually live in Fernandina! Which is a town right above you and only about 20-30 minutes!

Always great to make new friends. Good to know, I'm seriously excited about getting into mermaiding.

You will have a blast! I ordered a finfolk tail a while back that's being finished this week. I will have it once my payments are finished this summer :D but I've had a fabric tail before that. Have you thought of what kind of tail you're going to look into yet?

My first will be a fabric tail with an orca pattern. Some friends and I saw the media article about being a whale or mermaid this summer to try and make plus sized women feel bad about themselves, well our response was we're both! And decided our first tails would be modeled after whales.
